McCormack on brink of £10 million Fulham move?

30/6/2014

Reports claim that Leeds captain Ross McCormack is on the verge of joining recently relegated Fulham for a fee of around £10 million.

A transfer seemed very much on the cards when the Scottish striker failed to travel with the rest of the squad today for their 2 week training camp in Italy.

A number of clubs have been chasing Leeds' 29 goal leading scorer, but owner Massimo Cellino claimed last month that, unless a top club came in for him, he would be staying.

It would therefore be a surprise if he stayed in the Championship, which may explain a £10m fee-money talks..

There was talk that McCormack told Cellino he wanted to go last week-something neither confirmed or denied by either party.

No clarification either that McCormack has tied up a deal with Fulham, but there is a lot of noise that a deals been done, with bookies suspending betting after a flood of bets.

New Leeds boss announced-wow...just wow..

19/6/2014

As expected, David Hockaday has been announced as the new Leeds coach on a 2 year deal.

In all of my 43 years a Leeds fan, I don't think I have ever seen such a shock as this one-despite it being pretty much nailed on for a while. Hockaday has little managerial experience-just a larger unspectacular 4 year spell at Forest Green, alongside some coaching at various clubs. Opinion polls on social media sites have around 85% of fans against this deal.

However, it was always coming I suppose. Once Cellino announced he didn't want a manager, he wanted a coach, it ruled out pretty much every big name - would do Matteo, Malay Mackey etc want to work like that? Cellino has always been after a 'yes' man and it looks like he's got one.

Not an appointment that's going to bring fans rushing through the gates-not one that will inspire players to come, and current ones to stay.

This is Cellinos second big call, following the sacking of McDermott-the vast majority of fans think he has got this one horribly wrong-it might be inspired, but he doesn't appear to have judged the mood of the Leeds fans at all..

New Leeds manager to be announced

17/6/2014

It looks like the long wait for the next Leeds manager is over, with David Hockaday set to be announced as soon as tomorrow. The Yorkshire Post is reporting that the former Forest Green boss is set to travel up tomorrow to tie up the deal.

It seems incredible that the first thing we had to do when he was linked was not rush to social media to express our joy, but instead flick through Wikipedia to find out who the hell he was!

To be honest, once Cellino stated he was looking at a British manager, it was always going to be a little known coach. A 'big name' would shy away from the coaching model that Cellino seems to want, where he manages the club, and buys and sells the players, with the coach - coaching.

I can't be angry about the appointment-it might be a stroke of genius, but is it likely to keep the likes of McCormack interested in staying? Is it likely to be a lure for potential transfer targets?

I'm at a loss what to think to be honest as the Circus freak show that is Leeds continues to rumble on-never a dull moment eh???

Crunch Day for Leeds as Court Case looms

9/6/2014

It's an important few days for Leeds United as the club heads into the court to defend a Winding Up Petition served by Sports Capital, the company partially owned by former Director David Haigh.  Sports Capital loaned Leeds United two payments of around £875,000 and £950,000 whilst the club was struggling financially under the ownership of GFH-C.  Cellino has paid most of the smaller of the two amounts, but is disputing the larger bill of £950,000.

Since leaving the club, David Haigh has found himself imprisoned in a Dubai Police Cell, investigated for fraud and false accounting.  The charges relate to a number of false invoices that is is alleged Haigh created and paid himself, all of which were just below his authorisation limit as Director.  It is not clear if these matters form all or part of the reasons that Leeds dispute the money owed.

Since the Winding Up Petition was served, Leeds United have been hampered financially, with Bank Accounts frozen and staff being unable to be paid, plus certain credit facilities are either unavailable, or unsuitable for the club at present.  Resolving the matter is essential if the plans put in place by Cellino are to be realised.

Although the Court has the authority to issue a Winding Up petition to Leeds if the court rules in favour of Sports Capital, it is unlikely that Leeds would be impact.  Cellino would meet the bill, and defending the claim is seen only as a way of arguing the money is not a legitimate debt.  It is also unclear if David Haighs incarceration could lead to further delays to the case, although there would be a strong case to argue the case should be dismissed for the time being, considering the financial impact it is having on the club at present.

The hearing is expected to last two days.

Once the case is resolved, Cellino is expected to move forward with his plans quickly, with the priority being confirmation of the new Leeds Manager expected by the end of this week.

Leeds players meet with Cellino

2/6/2014

More strange goings on at Elland Road today as all the players reported back in. It appears that all are having one on one chats with Cellino regarding next season-do they want to be here etc. It all seems a little bit surreal, with visions of the players been sat in a dentist waiting room, waiting to be summoned.

The players were all tight lipped on exiting, banned from discussing it, so no clues as yet as to what was discussed.

There is still no news on the vacant managers position, with various names up and down the bookies lists-however, I don't think we'll see an established English manager taking the reigns, with Cellino's desire for a coach rather than a manager to take the reins. MC seems to want a very hands on approach, including the transfers of players-something a traditional manager would be uneasy with...
