Match Preview - Leeds United v Barnsley

20/12/2013

BB, our message board regular has opened the popular 'Match day Thread' for predictions and discussions on this weekend fixture...

Last Game Review (Donny 0 v LUFC 3)

The weather played a massive part in a poor game of football. Heroic backs-to-the-wall defending secured a clean sheet and the introduction of Michael Brown on 70 minutes was a vital substitution by BM as he steadied the ship.

Goals from Matty Smith, Ross and Rudi made the scoreline 0-3 in favour of LUFC.

By all accounts Marius was the star performer and I am delighted we are in talks about extending his contract.

Dickov may moan but their “goal” was offside

Team News

This Saturday the Mighty White take on their Barnsley Bogeymen. Bizarrely, this is the fourth time we have played a team that has a new manger taking charge for his first game (Brighton, Derby and Boro before). This is the second time Wilson has managed Barnsley whose players, like all other clubs, will be up for a game v Leeds. Lets hope ER is rocking and scares the life out of them!

Barnsley have a doubt about McCourt but O’Grady is fit to return. Hopefully, their England international keep Butland will be overworked.

BM has said a couple of players have knocks with Danny Pugh undergoing a fitness test today to see if he can play.

Wooton and Drury made their comeback this week in the Development Squad win v Coventry. Both should be available for selection. The game comes to early for Noel Hunt though. Dioufy, although training this week, is still likely to be unfit.

I expect BM will stick with the same 11 that won last week if Pugh is fit:-

Kenny

Lees Marius Pearce

Peltier Rudy Murphy Mowatt Pugh (Warnock)

Smith Ross

Subs: Cairns Wooton Warnock (Pugh) Brown Tonge Varney Poleon

If we maintain the level of performance we have displayed at home this season and also show the battling qualities seen during the Donny game BB predicts a 2-0 win to the Mighty Whites. Smith and Mowatt to score and providing all LUFC fans with a Merry Christmas!
