By now, Leeds owner Massimo Cellino should have finished clearing his desk and handing over the keys to someone else. He was supposed to have given up control by around lunchtime today, though it is anyone’s guess exactly how his is supposed to effectively leave the club 2 days after losing his appeal. However, before there has been an official announcement as to whether he plans to appeal or not, he has been caught up in another court case. This time it’s embezzlement and false representation relating to allegations of the misappropriation of 750,000 Euro’s of public funds for the building of his former club Cagliari’s stadium. He is one of 11 suspects, and has 20 days to submit a defence, before the case goes to trial. Let’s not forget – there are still several outstanding court cases due later this year involving tax avoidance and fraud!!
Cellino is due to step down until mid April, but the cases keep building up – much more and you wonder whether he can carry on – the problem is…what are the alternatives?
There are supposedly ones out there-Mike Farnams group for one-this may be the time to make a move..
