Leeds owners GFH have written to the Football League demanding that a decision on the takeover by the end of the day. Following the guilty verdict of prospective owner Massimo Cellino, the deal looks likely to collapse, but the Football League have been silent on the subject, apart from a short statement saying they were aware.
GFH look like they are panicking-and you can see why. Wages are due, bills need to be paid, and they don't seem to have a plan B as to what to do if Cellino is, as expected, rejected.
Everyone involved in this sorry mess has ended up looking bad. Haigh, jumping ship at any opportunity, Cellino, who seems to sail a bit too close to the wind on many business ventures andGFH who appear absolutely clueless-a complete shambles.
The Football League, to be fair, look as though they are scrutinising Cellino-it does beg the question though-we're they this tough on GFH???
