Last night pitted Leeds against Liverpool for the first time in years, and whilst not a classic to match those memorable games, it certainly generated a buzz for the away fans.
Liverpool rested several players, but still had a team mainly packed with internationals, and plenty of double figure million pound signings-Leeds left out first framers Jansen, Hernandez, Green, Bridcutt, Wood and Ayling, whilst O'Kane was injured early on. The average age of the Leeds team was 23.5 years, compared to liverpools 24.
The home side started better, and although Sako missed a good chance, we gave the ball away too easily-however, we grew into the game and the first half was fairly even. Second half was a different story as Leeds bossed the game (despite what Klopp thought!), Roofes superb shot could crashing off the inside of the post. When on top though, you need a goal, and we didn't get one, Liverpools class telling in th last 15 minutes as they took control and scored twice.
They say you learn about people in defeat, and we saw that this team has massive potential-Taylor looked back to his best, and great to see Beradi back-in midfield Phillips and Viera were excellent and certainly not overshadowed by the Liverpool players. Star performer for me though was Kemar Roofe who is starting to show why we bought him. Just needs that first goal now..
