Earlier rumours suggested Leeds United was one possible target, either to buy the club, or to sponsor Elland Road, but seemed to die off several months ago, but fresh reports suggest the hunt is back on.
Red Bull already have several sporting concerns including football teams in Australia, Germany, Brazil, Ghana and the US, as well as two F1 teams.
Ralf Rangnick, sporting director of Red Bull Salzburg, the Australian team the firm control is reported to be heading the search but it is reported clubs in the Championship have been considered and dismissed due to the time and money it would take to get them promoted, all with no guarantees.
Now Liverpool and Everton are being suggested, but a London based club would be preferred.
Leeds United is a dormant giant that would bring huge returns to any investors if they had the patience, but finding the right partner to take the club forward with that patience is going to be key. It would seem Red Bull are looking for something more immediate.
As for the club, money and investment would be welcome to the fans, but 'Red Bull Leeds United' is probably going to taste a sickly as their drinks to the fans!
