Leeds updates-takeover, transfer,match preview-Round up

19/2/2014

Whilst all is a bit quiet, we can take some time to catch up on where we are..

First up, the takeover-boy is this dragging on!! We know that Cellino is pretty much nailed on to complete-likely now to be next week. The fit and proper person test seems to be relatively straight forward for him-despite some past indiscretions!! The FL though are now asking about the short and medium term funding plan. Whilst frustrating that this is delaying matters, it does make a lot of sense to ensure that Cellino has the funds to take is forward-questions must be asked though if they were this stringent with GFH?

Two weeks ago, the majority of fans didn't want Cellino anywhere near the club after the sacking of McDermott-the mood has changed though. Whilst some still oppose him, most now reluctantly accept that he is a better option than what we currently have. He has seemingly built some bridges with the manager, and his plans of buying back Elland Road have gone down well..

This brings me on to transfers-where the funds would come from is anyone's guess, but Stoke's highly rated keeper Jack Butland is strongly linked with a loan move-Leeds would be paying roughly £6K a week of his £17K wages, with Stoke putting the rest towards-Tottenham goalie Heurelho Gomes is alps rumoured to be in talks, with the 33 year old Brazillian desperate to get into the World Cup squad.

Finally, a huge game on Saturday as Leeds visit Middlesboro. A game that Leeds really need to win if they are to keep their outside play off hopes alive. Cameron Stewart will be available again after his loan was restarted, and McDermott will be picking from strength with no injury concerns. Lunchtime kick off for this game, live on Sky..
