McDermott-there will be changes

10/3/2014

Leeds manager Brian McDermott confirmed in his press conference that there will be changes ahead of Tuesday nights game against Reading.

With Saturdays horror show still fresh in his mind, McDermott admitted he could understand the fans reaction to the 5-1 home defeat.

McDermott hasn't named names, but I think it's safe to assume that Jimmy Kebe and Cameron Stewart may both well be 'rested'. Sam Byram should return, whilst Alex Mowett is also expected to get the nod. However, I don't think it will stop there. Jason Pearce, a big miss on Saturday will come back, whilst Michael Brown may well feature.

Several of the squad are playing for their futures at the moment-if Cellino takes over, big changes are likely at the end of the season. McDermott did say he'd had a good call with bot h Cellino and Haigh after the game..another performance like Saturdays, and it may well be a very different conversation..

There needs to be a fresh approach now completely , and that takes money, we won't get anywhere without big money. To be honest we should have got a playmaker in midfield and not wickham (both would be ideal ) but as we don't have money and we can't pass ,we should have got a playmaker. Our midfield is shocking I'm afraid, no creativity , just old fashioned runners and blockers .

Speaking of playmaker, what about Wes Hoolahan from Norwich who can't get in their first 11? What a waste of natural talent....

Great choice. Should be a top target.

At least he would show some desire to win unlike several others that are paid to do just that.

We have 2 fantastic strikers..but they're lacking the supply needed.
Both wingers need to pick their games up, we need more supply and more energy. Mowatt has the potential, I honestly think that, he just needs more time. MOT

He can pass and play a bit, but unfortunately he is getting battered in the middle at this level, can't tackle and is very slow.

Once again Brian is right, it matters not who he plays, no heart means, no belief, means no drive, means no conviction. every player who wears the badge should play for the badge. MOT.

Bigcat.

what's with marius zaliukas?

One bad game and he was cast aside, whereas Kebe has one good game, well half a game, and becomes Baldys pet. Unless summats gone off behind the scenes McD should give him the nod over the dross we,ve got in defence, apart from Pierce.

Agree with ct & Liam it's been painfully clear to anyone with half a brain a playmaker has been needed since Clayton and Howson were sold.Hoolahan is the type we need, Austin's 1st instinct is to boot the ball as far as possible .Zaliukas has been treated worse than Kebe ,Stewart and Austin but I don't know if I could pick him again after his last performance it was beyond belief for a pro footballer and yes BMCD is responsible he trains and picks these none performing blocks

I thought that this site was for football comment. Please look at Paul's comment above. It is obscene, contains a personal attack on a true fan and has nothing to do with football. Why did you publish it?

He said he was going to make changes after the Rochdale debacle and look what happened there. Some of the players need to take a long hard look at themselves with some of the performances this season - some of them are not fit to wear the shirt or pick up their substantial wage packet. We might achieve something if we could instill some of the desire of Jason Pearce in to some of the under-performers in the team and unfortunately there is a lot of them.
