New Leeds manager to be announced

17/6/2014

It looks like the long wait for the next Leeds manager is over, with David Hockaday set to be announced as soon as tomorrow. The Yorkshire Post is reporting that the former Forest Green boss is set to travel up tomorrow to tie up the deal.

It seems incredible that the first thing we had to do when he was linked was not rush to social media to express our joy, but instead flick through Wikipedia to find out who the hell he was!

To be honest, once Cellino stated he was looking at a British manager, it was always going to be a little known coach. A 'big name' would shy away from the coaching model that Cellino seems to want, where he manages the club, and buys and sells the players, with the coach - coaching.

I can't be angry about the appointment-it might be a stroke of genius, but is it likely to keep the likes of McCormack interested in staying? Is it likely to be a lure for potential transfer targets?

I'm at a loss what to think to be honest as the Circus freak show that is Leeds continues to rumble on-never a dull moment eh???

Well.
Things are different now.
Massimo is the new manager, and has decided:-
a. He can work with Mr Hockaday.
b. He is not willing to pay £500,000 for his no1 choice - odd in itself.
I expect as Mr Hockaday is out of work, he will agree to a 12 month contract, which suits Massimo!!!!
Either Massimo is a genius or a blithering idiot.
Time will tell.
Massimo will be buying the players and handle the media as a manager does.
I expect we will not know many of the players he brings in either.
He needs to get himself sorted, with pre-season on the horizon, and get players in quickly!
Watch and wait.

Absolutely correct. Well McD was a 'big name ' manager in this division and persevered with the dross you mention. Maybe the days of the dinosaur managers are over and this is the way forward. I am frankly underwhelmed but as you say it could be a genius decision. One thing is for sure - he can't do any worse than the previous incumbents, or maybe he can if we get relegated! Interesting times beckon.

Yes I would agree with you if this guy was some 30 something tracksuit type of new coach.

He is 56 and has never achieved anything, show me one example of a 56 year old coach who had no proven track record yet succeeded

There isn't one he is what he is this is the most bizarre thing to happen at the club ever. It's so insane he must be doing it to win a bet

A long lasting legacy and prudent master stroke…well who would have thought that a simple act of naivety and vanity taken some months back by the, then ‘MD’ of Leeds United would have such an impact on deciding who Leeds United’s next coach and subsequent coach’s would be. Back in the day the managing director at the time a certain DH purchased for official/personal use a full attire of official Leeds United training kit – track suits, sweat shirts, polo shirts and assorted weather wear all emblazoned with the initials DH and Coach. All very nice for a whimsical pleasure for such a man of his standing and integrity after all he was in control of the club and all official spending, so that’s OK isn’t it?
Well seeing that the clubs new owner has more than an eye on finances, savings and such forth, utilising this vast amount of official LUFC attire cannot be neglected and laid to waste, hence why David Hockaday is the new Leeds United coach. Considering the items of training gear are quite extensive and the short shelf life of coaches under the employ of Mr Cellino’s quite short the number of future coaches treading the touchline at Elland Road will surely be many! So don’t be surprised to see in the not too distant future the likes of Darren Huckerby, Dietmar Hamann, David Healy, Darius Henderson, Danny Higginbotham, David Hurst, Don Hutchinson or any other DH directing play from the Elland Road dugout.
Marciare su insieme!
