Support for Cellino bid grows

4/2/2014

On Friday night, an angry group of Leeds fans blockaded Elland Road, refusing to allow Massimo Cellino into a taxi back to his luxury hotel but just four days later, is the the tide turning in support of the Italian...

Wading through the various comments on Social Media is difficult at the best of times, but we ran a poll on or Twitter feed (@uLUFC) to gauge opinions in one place.

By mid-afternoon, 68% favoured a consortium to gain control of the club with just 31% in favour of Cellino, but as the evening passed, and news of a Winding Up Petition being issued by Andrew Flowers against GFH-C began to circulate across Social Media, that tide seems to have turned.

At the time of writing, 37% of Leeds fans now want the Millionaire to assume control, almost 4 out of every 10.

The actions of Andrew Flowers are unacceptable to some, and seen as not having the best interests of the club at heart.  As we understand it,  Flowers is still willing to work towards a solution with GFH-C and is either using this development as something of a bargaining chip or to block the take-over by Cellino, or to protect the money he has given to the club (given GFH-C are on the verge of selling and we do not know if there is any security of repayment).

Cellino meanwhile, seems to be the preferred option to fans who see the attraction of some serious investment into the club, although it is wrong to assume the Italian comes with with this as a guarantee.  Leeds United Season Ticket holder, Adam Parker (@adamparker1988) has compiled some interesting statistic about Cellino which can be viewed on Scribd.

It's not too late to vote on our poll and the more votes, the more accurate these polls reflect the feeling amongst Leeds United supporters.  To vote, click HERE
