Wickham loan ended

24/3/2014

Sunderland have recalled striker Connor Wickham, cutting short his loan at Leeds. The forward has played just 5 games for Leeds, and not found the back of the net yet, but it's still a blow to boss Brian McDermott. Sunderland are in a relegation dogfight , and short of firepower, so it's not a huge surprise, but shows the risks if dipping into the loan market.

Big blow to Leeds, but with the season effectively over anyway, it shouldn't make a lot of difference..

I reckon its down to him being played out if position. He clearly ain't happy and getting much out of his time here. If he had scored 5 in 5 then yh they wld want him for his form/goals, but that's not the reason here.

Same thing went through my mind, has Gus had a look at it and come to the conclusion that the Leeds set up was'nt doing Connor any favours, played upfront for the Wendies and made a difference, left wing is'nt a good place to play him although he did a job there on Saturday

Maybe, just maybe, they want him back because they're in the bottom three of The Premiership and facing a buoyant Liverpool side away on Wednesday night. He's played five games for us and is now probably fully match fit ... thanks for that LUFC but it's the danger of the loan market.

Could be 4 reasons why h has gone back.
1. He has been recalled
2. He has asked to go back
3. We can`t afford to pay the wages because Cellino not putting anymore money in
4. Doomsday scenario,,, Club already been told League turning Cellino down, so no way can we pay wages.Butland will be gone as well if that`s the case ! !
