Well seeing as nobody had the bollox to step up to the prestigious MDT, it looks like it's up to me to take us to Wemberley....
I'll add to this during the evening as I've done no research and afraid it won't be up to the very high standard of my previous MDT's.... many thanks for all the kind comments that I'm still getting through my inbox.
The East End is best known for it's gangsters, garrotting, pearly King and Queen, Eastenders and jellied eels.... and of praying for a cup draw with Millscum for 20 odd years.
The East End invented cockney rhyming slang which is their own language that nobody can decipher.... eg, pony and trap = crap.
This could go in a sentence with an example being: "Ain't Lord Breezynipples weather predictions fkn pony"....
And pronouncing words such as 'house'.... 'aass'
Famous people/supporters from the area include:
Paul Wellers favourite band The Rifles.... absolute quality and should be as big as Oasis.
4 of the Chuckle Brothers....
Ray Winstone.... who starred in my favourite film of all time, Sexy Beast.
6 limbed pilot Douglas Bader....
Artist....Alfred Hitchcock
Funnyman from Gavin and Stacey.... James Corden
Long haired sexcase....Russell Brand
Ardman Royal.... Danny Dyer
Michael Jackson.... best known for blowing Bubbles
I'm going for a positive 2-1 victory and hope Summerville starts.... and Raphinha in a selfish way. Hopefully Hattrick will be back to notch the brace... I actually think it will go to pens but won't post that.
I'm going to the game and looking forward to a debut visit to their new stadium.... I've still got 2 spare tickets for the Leeds end if anyone is interested.
MOT ON THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR 1972 TRIUMPH....
My point about playi b to build that continuity was not meant to sound like it was in ghe first team but they need to play game together even if it is in the U23's. Playing 15 games together would allow them to develop fatser as they are all very good level talents that could push each other further. Playing 45 minutes here and there is doinv nothing for them.
Also many on here from the old site know I am friends with a freelance scout and after watching the game i send him a message asking his thoughts on Leo Hjelde and just straight up said that it was to be expected given his performances at the back end of the 20/21 season were he went on loan and played every games for loan club Ross County and basically keep getting better and made the game look easy. Said that expects Leeds to try in the U23's at some stage if all players are fit a back 3 of Cresswell at RCB, Struijk at CB & Hjelde LCB.
Only saw high light on motd alfi mcalmount took the corner for the
Morecambe goal
Daniel, our youngsters indeed look very promising.
Several seem to have proven to be ready and able to play in the Premiership.
Great debut from Hjelde and I feel both Geldhardt (special talent) & even Cresswell (didn't get much game time thus far) have already proven their pedigree.
Others need to beef up and within a couple of seasons, they may well become full time Premiership players. Matters would be helped if they could learn the trade and get some experience of competitive football at a decent level (Championship or at least League one).
But we can't just expect some of the lads to hit the ground running in this very dificult league. Ideally you would bring in those guys slowly, in a settled team playing with confidence. ATM they're being used as stop gaps in an already struggling team. So I feel they're kind off being thrown in at the deep end, but still plenty of credit to them for stepping up.
we did ok today considering how many players we were missing.
Wet spam 1st goal was a disgrace from VAR.but we created the best 2 chances of the match so very unlucky not to bring it to extra time(its probably a blessing in disguise that we didn't with our injuries).
Hjelde had a great debut, which is important with Llorente suspended next weekend.
Bate did ok,he didn't deserve to get hooked at half time.
Greenwood did ok considering he didn't get much service.
I'm not a fan of playing Dan James as a striker,I think the better half time sub would've been Raf for Jack and leave Greenwood up top.
no shame in that defeat to a strong west ham team and to be honest last thing we need this season is a cup run with our injuries..
..
Good posts, Batty4 and Daniel2 👍👏
So going from this game and previous games this season. We have:
2 excellent up and coming 20 year old CB's in Cresswell & Hjelde.
1 excellent 21 year old CB in Struijk.
1 good 20 year old RB in Dremah.
2 Excellent 19 year old Forwards in Gelthart & Greenwood
2 good 19 year old winger in Summerville & McKinstry
Then you have Bates, McCalmont & Boguez who central midfielder.
Overall the future is good. Just need them playing together regularly to build that continuity.
I get every ones frustration
I thought today overall we were ok, not great but ok
The young un's looked good, especially Bate and Hjelde
For the future we look good.
As for now I think we are mediocre and will finish around 15th in the league which I guess is a win for this season
This game was all about the ref and VAR which was absolutely pathetic and wanted me to turn the TV off. ( since VAR was introduced there have been more bad decisions than before VAR. How is that possible???)
The biggest debate for me is the size of the squad
How do we get the right balance between injuries and size of squad.
I feel with the fitness regimes there will be more injuries than most premier leagues teams but we have a smaller squad than most teams which I don't compute like Bielsa. I did think the U 23's competed well today but there were too many starting at the same time.
There is no way that we can fathom the injuries but the way that this system of Bielsa ball works is reliant on a small squad and no , or few injuries, which is crazy because of the fitness schedule you are bound to get more injuries.
Call me crazy but that is the way I see it and the reason no one else does it
Long live Bielsa I love him 😂
Hjelde did well. Bate and Greenwood did OK. Drameh and Summerville would benefit from a loan spell, neither good enough atm for prem.
We were unlucky with some decisions and VAR. Could have had a penalty second half, so on balance we did well.
For me £25m wasted on James when money clearly needs spending elsewhere on some genuine quality.
Not quite as bad as I anticipated. We never looked like scoring obviously but oddly I feel more confident about next week than I did.
2-1 Leeds next week
The under 23s performed well today. Hjelde was possibly man of the match. Bate should never have been substituted, he was calm, composed, didn't hide, and chased the ball when not in possession. Wrong decision! Greenwood also was growing into the game and in confidence before being taken off. I could understand his substitution for tactical reasons - had the tactics worked! They didnt! Some very poor performances from Klich, Firpo and to a lesser extent, Harrison.
Agree Glory.
Also felt Koch did well and the young lad Hjelde looked very promising.
It would/could be helpfull to actually have a striker.
Overcrowded squad? U'23s are just that (u23's).
Do feel we've got an unbalanced squad, several positions overloaded with the same type (cc's) of players → each & everyone lightweight/small.
On the other hand, for some key positions we haven't even got a replacement to speak off.
Also the number of injuries aren't just all down to bad luck.
It's actually having to do with the training/fitness demands + off course the demands of the Premiership with such a small and overly used set of players.
Again don't understand the reason(s) why MB felt inclined to chase this game.
By the way Raphina was shxte, not sure what's going on with him atm.
"if I'm honest, I can't really understand why MB got Dallas & Rapha involved".
I was thinking the same thing Guy, unless it was just to give the some game time, other than that, there was the odd glimpse but I would have kept Bate and Greenwood on. Harrison and Klich had poor games and would have been no surprise if they had of been hooked. The Ayling sub was a bit mystifying, even to him. Cannot fault James up front, he wasn't purchased for that role.
On the plus side. Koch is starting to look the part and Hjelde had a great debut, also looks the part.
The game next week will not be the same. Hopefully the Ammers will put a few past Norwich during the week.
Now Firpo can't continue.
Just hope the powers that be at LUFC can see we need help.
If I'm honest, I can't really understand why MB got Dallas & Rapha involved.
So very true Soopa, I suppose the home team can handpick both his refs and VAR.
How did the ref give Vlasic that free kick???
Bent as a 5 bob note this ref and the VAR between them 😡
HOW THE FOOK IS THAT NOT OFF SIDE-😪
Wrong sub. Klich has done nothing and should have made way instead of Bate.
VAR got that one completely wrong.
Bowen was clearly interfering/influencing play.
Guess you need to prove your worth before being considered for the VAR team, obviously the less one knows about football the better.
Unlucky to conceed that goal, looked offside to me.
VAR didn't know and must have decided to flip a coin.
Bubbles look more dangerous, but in general our youngster are doing ok.
