Will DF make a good Premiership manager for us?.
In days gone by, Norwich absolutely battered teams in the Championship under DF's stewardship but was found wanting on a couple of occassions in the Premiership and if memory serves me right, they did spend big on a least one of these trips.
Maybe we are a better all round package than the Norwich of old, but DF's experience and tactical awareness in the Premiership is limited and we do not want to be a one season wonder and then struggle again until we are eventually relegated.
I'm not for one moment discounting him from the position and he clearly has a close working relationship with the players, but our ascent into the promised land will need investment in quality (and probably expensive signings, assuming we can) and I'm not sure if these would be the calibre of players that DF has ever managed or whether he would risk unsettling the squad as it is.
I just thought I'd throw it out there.
I will add a question think about it, I mean really think about it.
What about trying Firpo as a 10?
If you watch him in the attacking areas, he has quick passes, good through balls, nice movement into space and a good shot. He always seems to come alive in advanced positions. Actually think it work with 2 DCM behind him.
I'm more worried about Farke not being able to change formation DURING the game in the Championship.... WTF do I know with the position we're in!
Every team knows how we're going to set up and we won't have anywhere near as much of the ball if promoted....
The Premier is a different animal though and we'll get found out with even our better players not guaranteed to get us to mid table....I still say a complete overhaul is needed with approx 5 TOP players needed to get us to mid table.
It's vital we get Pep when he's sacked and get Hoddle upstairs....
Not sure that Norwich ever splashed the cash on one of their 'visits' to the Premiership.
Seem to recall they actually sold their best player in Buendia (the first time they won promotion under Farke), the second time they managed to keep Pukki but I can't remember them signing any real big name players.
I do get your concerns because I'm afraid Farke in the first place would be very loyal to the players he wins promotion (if & when) with.
The good thing is that at least we seem to have a solid base to build on. But the Premiership has become even stronger, so major investment in better quality players will be a must.
The money should be there!
