I'm still here, somehow, from the first game of the season but at least we seem to be playing better now.... even without our sold 3 best players.
As in my last crap MDT v Dull, nothing of any consequence happens in Bumley so I haven't got a lot to work with.... I was going to pad it out by slaughtering Lord Windywilly and his inaccurate weather forecasts, but I thought I'd give him a week off as he takes it so seriously and thinks he's some kind of celebrity oop north.
Bumley is famous for being a prominent mill town with a super shopping centre and natural landscapes.... and that's it! That's all they've got on their town website! I suppose I can't take the piiss out of them too much as I come from Luton.
Famous people from Bumley include:
Quality fast bowler Jimmy Anderson....
The Chuckle Brothers....
Harry Potter actor Sir Ian McKellan....
Dougie Bader....
And, wait for it, a fkn Britain's Got fkn Talent finalist from 2009!!
Bumley could have as many as 9 players out and will no doubt put 10 behind the ball and hope to nick a point from a set piece.... I hope Jaidon Anthony gets a good reception though after losing a family member and still making himself available for us even though he knew he'd only be on the bench. I thought he should have got far more games /minutes for us....
I'm going for a positive 2-1 victory with a Joseph brace....
If we DO win this game we can go top of the Championship, just one point behind the leaders....
To be fair to Farke's choice of tactics, we played much worse after the subs came on and the change of formation.
If you did not see the match, but looked at the stats for the game, you would rightly come to the conclusion that Leeds battered Burnley, well having seen the game, the stats are pretty useless and reality is somewhat different. One stat shows 609 passes made, however I reckon about 550 were either sideways or backwards!.
The blueprint on how to play at Elland Road was established a long time ago and yet we still do not have a plan to defeat it, well as TC says, keep playing the same formation and you are going to get the same result, brick wall!!.
I still think we are a very good side, but DF needs to rethink he's tactics and strategy when faced with this situation.
Farke simply cannot change formation or have a Plan B DURING the game.... it's just the same old 4-2-3-1
Bumley had 4/5 defenders and swallowed us up. We had 4 defenders who unfortunately had nobody to mark because the opposition hardly ventured over the halfway line.
Why not take off a defender, push Gnonto oop top with Joseph and still play 3 behind them!?
Manager's seem happier to not lose a game rather than try and fkn score more than the opposition and WIN it!!
Football has changed these days and rather than wingers getting the cross in, they turn back to give it 5yds to the FB to keep fkn possession!
Why put Byram on for Firpo!? Why not put a more attacking sub on when the opposition isn't trying to cross the halfway line at that stage of the game!?
Why play 4 fkn defenders with 2 fkn HOLDING midfielders when we're not being attacked!?
Ampadu is very limited going forward so he has to hold on his own and sacrifice Gruev who only passes 10yds, and get someone more creative on further up the pitch!?
I've said before that we used to change formation in junior park's football with U16s after a 1hr training session per week and just a call from the touchline by the manager!!
HAVE A FKN PLAN B FARKE OR GET GLENN FKN HODDLE IN....
Well that was crap I don’t know how it came over on tv
But the crowd was flat and uninspiring
Burnley out sang our crowd
Measlier shouting at a ball girl for not throwing the ball back quickly at a throw-in made me shake my head
Wasted some money and time to watch that game via LUTV.
I do not understand the obsession with going all the way back to the CB'S and goalkeeper. Nor do understand asking the striker to be anywhere other then in the middle engaging the opposition CB'S.
Think our structure of players starting positions are wrong and also who and when Subs were make.
Uninspiring game and performance.
No creativity or imagination.
I think Gruev is our sticking point. Good accurate passer and decent set-piece delivery but not quick enough and too predictable, so unlikely to make things happen when we're trying to break down a stubborn defence.
Questionable subs also.
We've got what we deserved today.
How many more times will teams come to ER, park the bus, do the hard work and get the result? We have to be better.
It's part on the Farke style - too slow and ponderous with the build up - and part on the chances missed here - it's not his fault Joseph and Gnonto couldn't finish.
We'll have better days but this sends out the wrong message big time - every team knows what to do and we haven't got an answer. Peed off.
This ref is an absolute c*ck!
Chuffin' Portsmouth all over again. Only Leeds.
2 golden chances and a penalty claim - 0 goals
vs
1 clean break - 1 goal
Hard game this will be lucky 1-1
Danial James out for 4 weeks apparently, so won't be back until after the next round of useless internationals. Much as I like DJ, he does seem to be another player that when he gets injured, he is always out for a considerable period of time, I guess it's possible that they play him knowing he has a litlle knock here and there and it backfires when something more serious happens.
Cracking MDT TC you nutter. I'll have you know my weather knowledge transcends Yorkshire.
Should be a cracking game this. I'm tipping we will win 2-0.
WF warming up to a barmy 17c . Perhaps bit of rain, just dodge the raindrops and you'll be OK.
Generally after these fkn pointless international breaks, our form goes to sh*te. Fingers's crossed!
Great stuff TC - I was skeptical of your MDT patter at the start of the season, but you're coming good now.
The international break came at a bad time for you, but I have faith. Good point about Jaidon Anthony and also about our depth - there's some serious talent at this level not going to be getting a game - you forgot Ao Tanaka in midfield too.....
Statement win for Leeds coming on Saturday - raise the banners to show the rest of the EPL what we're about this season. 🏆
Just seen Dan James stats for last season and this and he's scored 14 in 49apps yet he's always the one who is rumoured to be dropped.... surely he's the nearest goalscoring winger we have since Summerville has gone!?
He stays quiet and never moans and has unbelievable pace. Maybe if we told him he's our no1 winger then he'd have the confidence to improve even more....
I'd play him on the right with Solomon on the left and try Gnonto in the middle. Bit harsh on Aaronson who's made a good goalscoring start though....
This is without Ramazani getting a look in.... or Rothwell who I think will be quality given a run. Where does he fit in though with Gruev and Ampadu!?
Tough but I don't think Farke rotated players enough last year and they virtually knew they were starting or on the bench....
Think we have to make earlier substitutions if things are not going to plan and spice it up to keep players hunger....
EDIT: Wrong thread but I'm not starting that fkn waffle again and you get the gist....
Good Luck TC...........................................MOT!
