Something clearly upset the team as I've never seen such a contrast in halves.
What didn't happen was that our coach didn't get a grip, and bang heads together. Could he be another Jesse? We have to hope not as we are running out of time. The good 90 mins against Forest was wiped out yesterday.
While that could explain a lot, it sounds like a conspiracy theory - hope there’s nothing to it, and that Gracia and the players as a united group can analyze the game in order to never let what happened on the field, yesterday, repeat again.
So by my rough reckoning, the table as it is today, will basically stay the same, however as we all know, anyone fool enough to predict anything is asking for trouble!!
Left with a very empty and almost sad feeling, but we have to shake this performance off us and learn from it. First of all to defend set-pieces, and to not concede them. Will be interesting to see Gracia‘s choice of players next time, and to see how these players will have coped with today’s play and result.
We should see a decent number of changes. A guy mentioned that traffic cones defend better than some of our players did. He was not wrong.
What an incredible implosion from our side!
It won't be easy coming back from this, certainly not against a Pool side with pace to burn and with Salah looking for another brace or hattrick against us.
Like you say, stop conceding silly free-kicks & start coping with set-pieces would be a start (how long have we been saying exactly that).
Ayling's confidence in terms of defending is shot and he should have been replaced several games ago. There was nobody who commanded the back four. Meslier looked uncertain & apprehensive and in part at fault for the equalizer.
In midfield our legs seemed to go missing and we became more & more pedestrian. We totally imploded in the second half, but the signs were already there after 30odd mins. Sinesterra was a virtual passenger. Aaronson as per usual ineffective (bar 1 decent attempt).
Makes me wonder why Rodrigo (our top scorer) can't even get to start a game. Can only hope that like Bamford said, everything that could go wrong did go wrong in this one game... However the omens don't look good.
Very good analysis, that, Belgian. Also Smurf‘s remark on us missing Tyler and Wober/Cooper’s leaderships is spot on. Graham Smyth’s verdict this morning is the most positive one can hope for, the day after:
“Leeds, though, are not in the drop zone and have a two-point cushion as well as eight games left. Even if the themes of this defeat were familiar - the missed chances and the set-piece defending - the scale of it can still be chalked off as an aberration. Just about anyone can beat just about anyone soundly in this division, after all. It can serve as a painful reminder that Leeds are not out of the woods just yet, keeping everyone on their toes and at their best. It can and should provoke a response, both in performance levels and Gracia's team selection. It can be a mistake from which Leeds learn, one that informs the story of the rest of this season in a positive way, one that does not factor when the accounts are explained next year. What it cannot be is fatal.”
What a strange and crushing game that was. I stayed while the end but I didn't clap them off, I just stared in disbelief.
1st half was good and we could have been 3 up. Their keeper made some freak saves, I don't think we fluffed our chances so much as the keeper had a blinder.
Anyway TC and his hotchpotch MDT's are over for the season, that should be a fillip for the players, might see us over the line.
Absolutely shell shocked!!. If I didn't see the 2nd half with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. Palace have a couple of very skilful players and if you give them the freedom of ER then it's no surprise what will happen.
I have stood by Ayling on a number of occasions, but I think the time has come, having said that, I don't have much faith in Rasmus either!.
Can't disagree with you Glory, we allowed their players that much room & space. To make things worse, this was against a fairly mediocre Palace team (minus their best player), just imagine what better teams (Pool) could/will do to us.
The lack of pace of our defence, will come to back to haunt us time & again. In that sense Rasmus is most certainly not a solution.
Truth be said the midfield of Roca, McKennie failed to provide any cover.
It‘s less about lack of pace but rather lack of leadership and dicipline. Koch can’t organise the defence, that’s been proved time and time again - he needs a Cooper or Wober alongside him. Struijk was positionally all over the place and Ayling who the team needed to rely on as the senior player looked mentally broken. When Cooper, Wober and Adams are all missing, it really shows.
We are up and instead of continuing to drive at them we start passing backwards. We start trying to be cute with free kicks. Result they score. Second half our players come out cocky and then give away 3 goals. Ayling at fault for 3 pieces of loose play which directly leads to 3 goals. We leave him on instead of subbing him. We bring on new players but lost the balance.
It's a pity that the state of affairs is not down or can be blamed on just one man/player. For example who gave away those silly free kicks to start with.
Yep Ayling has been VERY poor over the last games. But we were virtually unbothered by this Palace side and after scoring they've just wiped the floor with us. Our midfield just vanished.
To be honest and frank I can't see us escape relegation this time round.
The way and the extent of our defeat will have handed all of our opponents new hope.
This is a calamity, a major malfunction, a train wreck. And I think we all know to point the finger of blame squarely with TC10 and his mixed up section malarky.
Gifting them a first goal on a plate, then starting the second half still stunned from conceding. Meslier & others a sleep for that first goal, Ayling again not being awake for the second. Game as good as over.
A bit silly to throw away the points against a fairly average side.
Certainly odd that Forshaw on bench, then again it's strange to me why Bambi is still being played. Maybe both are being windowed for a move on next season?
We've now been dropped from a pre-season PL tour of the USA - our place taken by Fulham as we aren't safe in the division....
I could cry! We were in complete control of the game for 30+ minutes and only their keeper kept them in the game.
Then 2nd half collapse!!!!
Players need to look at themselves
Twitter saying a bust up in the dressing room between Ayling and either roca and Weston at half time
That was crap I have never see ER empty like that before the whistle
15th April fixtures (my predictions next to them)
Everton v Fulham (draw)
Spurs v Bournemouth (Spurs)
Southampton v Crystal Palace (Palace)
Wolves v Brentford (Draw)
Man City v Leicester (Man City)
16th April fixtures
West Ham v Arsenal (Arsenal)
Forest v Man Utd (Man Utd)
17th April fixture
Leeds v Liverpool (Liverpool)

Yep, sorry about that and had already started planning the Liverpool MDT after 30mins!
What a game of 2 halves. Us not taking our chances and then getting run ragged by a team who were BOTTOM of the current form tables ! 🤬
One bit of positivity was how our bench and especially Rutter celebrated the Bamford goal and we still look like we have a great team spirit.... 👏
Liverpool next and then next 3 games are vital before the hard last 4 games.... we've somehow managed to put ourselves right back in the crap again.
Olise and Eze were different class and thank fk Zaha wasn't available....

Gnonto was very lucky not to have been sent off!

Enbarrassing. We were good for 40 minutes, then gave these freekicks away. Honeymoon is over for Gracia. Time to not selecti Ayling and a few others.

This is gonna be one of these all too avoidable defeats. Such a big, big shame. Now we’re gonna need results in much more difficult matches.
Can't watch any more 😡
Despite us dominating most of the game, this did and does not feel comfortable.
My gut feeling isn't a good one, hope i'm wrong.
Still, as i said a while ago 4 pts from a possible 6 wouldn't be too bad.
This one could go either way, feel thus far there has been fairly little contribution from Sinesterra.
We just have to get something from this game, keep the focus & don't give away those crap fouls/corners.
That was painful.
Dominate the half - have most of the good chances
Playing a team who thrive on set pieces so we give away two sloppy set pieces just before half time and we're breached once again 😫
GET IN THERE!!!!
deserved after that start and happy 50th Paddy B
Good luck TC, 2-1 to The mighty Leeds…..Cummmmonnnnnnn you Mighty Fookin Whites💛💙💥🥊
Same eleven as on Tuesday. Palace’s team doesn’t look too bad, but we are better, and we can win this. Come on Leeds!
Same team which is understandable after Forest....
Forshaw is on the fkn bench instead of Gyabi!! WTF do our managers see in him.... he wasn't a good Championship player!
We could lose Gyabi in the summer and it's not as if he is going to get a game from the bench anyway but good for experience for next season....
Are we honestly saying Forshaw will be part of the squad next season? He'll break down after a couple of games as has been proven....
Love his passion and commitment to us but simply not good enough and certainly not better than Gyabi / Gray etc....
