MDT - Boro

Well with 3 games to go, thought might give it a go and see if I can change our luck with the first of our cup finals against Boro. Real shame that Bill cannot play as I'm sure good for an own goal, although Carrick being ex-Manure would love to put one over on us🙄

Middlesbrough was initially started as a Benedictine Priory and if we ever needed any devine, intervention next Monday would be a good place to start!

In keeping with most of the North East, Steel , Docks and Iron works were the mainstay of the area, hopefully we can knock down the steel curtain, have an iron grip on the game and not drown our sorrows in the Tees!!

As regards thoughts on the game, well something has to change otherwise we face another bad day at the office. We have the players to beat this lot, but they need to beleive it themselves. In my opinion, we need to have a striker that is permanently upfront and not chasing back for the ball, my preference for this is Joseph but we'll see.

Weather will be typically North East rain and wind.

I am convinced that no other set of fans on this earth have their health put in complete jeopardy, when their team walks out on the pitch. That was as tough a watch for the last 20 mins than I can remember!. I wouldn't want to play Boro week in week out!!

However, the main objective was secured and we move on to the R's on Friday, back to back wins will defo pile the pressure on the Tractor boys and maybe Sharpy can score a few for Hull against them on Saturday.

He may have got the penalty, but I maintain my previous post that Rutter is dogsh*te at the moment and needs to be hooked, unable to hold the ball and trying fancy stuff when simple is on. Firpo is still a liability, but somehow gets away with it, just!.

Yes we are ahead and should go on to win. bring on Kamara and push Archie up to take over the Rutter role!

On Firpo today, given that for 2 of the goals he had the final pass, does that mean he has 2 more assists?

Then does that make 7 for the season?

Also read somewhere that he creates almost 3 shooting chances a for teams.

Oh and in the 68th minutes in this game he and Rondon both gave Meslier a right spray about something.. you could hear it through the pitch side miss.

Does anyone think Bamford was trying to fire up us leeds fans when he picked up the ball before the penalty?

If Firpo is that great with assists etc then all the more reason to play to his, and our RBs strength, and play 3 CBs and WING BACKS.... that way at least we have cover behind them and our FBs are good going forward to link up with our flying wingers.

The priority of a FB in a 4 is to be able to DEFEND.... he cannot do that in the Championship, let alone the Prem and is constantly being caught out.

Although the opening goal v Boro wasn't entirely his fault, with mistakes in the run up, he should have been sweeping round another 2yds to his right and he'd have blocked/cleared that with his late sliding tackle....

Remember an interesting interview that Firpo had with M.Bridge, where he explained that prior to playing for Leeds, he had zero experience playing against true wingers.

He explained that in Spain, most wing players were either fullbacks overlapping or CM edging out wide, and it was very rare for the defence to be one one with tricky, speedy players.

The first goal, no commication from Mr number 1 to Rondon which was the bigger problem but yes Firpo could have reacted 0.25 of second quicker to try and block the rebound or been maybe positioned 1m closer to centre of the park. It was a cluster f8ck of errors for that goal.
