Listen, I am not particularly interested in the competition formerly known as the League Cup. No-one else has stepped up so I am going to do the MDT. Cannot have this board fail to do one since we first started this tradition many, many years ago.
It is unlikely we can win this Mickey Mouse cup. Teams like Man City, Man Poo, Liverpool, Chelsea and even those like Arsenal have such big squads that they can put out their first team players needing game time that have costs tens of millions and mix them, if wanted, with a handful of their best kids.
If any get into the quarter finals or progress further then a far stronger team will be played. We have only been in the Prem for 1 season and have missed 16 seasons of big TV money so our squad has to be small, which fits MBs philosophy, so there is no chance we can rotate effectively to match.
My ambition is just to get through this tie so some of our kids get another game v a proper men's side.
Watching the U23 game today, there are kids with potential to move up, but none are really ready to step into the first team in Prem games right now - not even Cresswell. Another few months in PL1 U23 football would be beneficial to them as players at this level only need one chance to score as proven by the Spurs No9 in a game we dominated for ages - we just did not take our many chances.
Crewe now are now more renowned for the child sex scandal of the 80s/90s than for their previously famed academy that brought through major star players like Seth Johnson and Luke Murphy. (said tongue in cheek). Luke is their captain and I am sure he is relishing a return to playing on the hallowed turf of Elland Road.
They also have one current international Donervon Daniels who represents that feared international team of Montserrat. He is a RB/CB
Surprised so many I thought would start tomorrow, played the U23 game today but a few clues given as ones that may play v Crewe only got a few minutes.
If I were MB I would pick:
Meslier
Shackleton Cresswell Cooper(Koch if fully fit) Firpo
Phillips
Summerville Forshaw Costa
Roberts
Rodrigo
Subs: From the U23s
No prediction as when I do we always lose.
We were going but the boy got a game that night.... sod's law and would have been perfect if either team could have played on the Wednesday! 🤬
I find your comments surprising Mouseman....
5000+ tickets for the Fulham game
for some reason Fulham have trouble selling out their ground even when half shut for remodelling
my Fulham mate had already got me mine in Fulham end
I really hope Adam returns and does not suffer relapses.
Looked total class and a great option for KP and as a No.8.
At least we got to the 4th round this year then!
Fulham away
The full game is now on lutv
Doe not matter to me really. Next Round in September will be in between a packed schedule. Cannot see MB wanting to field such a strong side as by then, players should be upto speed but it gives our U23s a chance to gain real experience, coupled with the EFL trophy.
Just a home tie would do me, dont care who it is against.
next Round draw on tonight thoughts ?
home v some lower league would be nice
Thought Shackleton had a great game. His quick touch, pass and movement is great to watch.
Think a Phillips, Dallas, Forshaw trio in the midfield will be our best line up going forward with Forshaw making way for klich around the 60 minute mark.
Cost is lacking confidence and think a short loan where he plays 10 games straight is in order.
I think the big plus from tonight was the shift put in by Adam Forshaw, it's almost like a new signing. Biesla really rates him and he's so versatile and a complete team player.
Guys just enjoy
We are through to the next round,
I do not care about this Mickey Mouse Cup, unless we get to the quarter finals.
Right now it is for game time for players needing minutes,
We dominated, we missed chances and clearly missed invention too.
VO take note, dont get a young guy from Huddersfield cos he is cheap!!!
We need someone who can be that No.10/playmaker and they cost money.
A Pablo in his heyday PLEASE
I absolutely loved being on the corporate ticket for the week - great atmosphere. Loads of beer too 😍
We seem to have dominated possession all game again with a real lack of end product, but the introduction of Bamford broke them - he may not have scored but he made the spaces and the passes.
Doesn't matter how drunk I was, I could still see Costa is S***
Still up Soopa pllssed up on last day of hols.... penned a long review on Roberts and Costa and ir turned off as soon as I was posting.
Basically said that we were playing with 9 yet again.... against the mighty Crewe!!
Think what we'd do in the Prem with 11 players on the pitch....
They've probably played 100 games between them over the last few seasons and people STILL think they have potential.... they'll be saying that during their testimonials for us!!
I want them to be legends for us but not gonna happen and this isn't park's football .... get rid of our fkn u23s if they're not better than those 2!!
Will do Mike ❤️
Welcome Gary..... keep posting 👍⚽I
I have returned
I am drunk
Does anybody know the score? 😵
at last cup win
Good Night Crewe
Jack now makes it 3!!!
Get in Jack!!! Quick counter and a deserved second. Meslier important for his quick distribution! Now it looks like a good run out for players that needed game time.
34,104 inside today. AMAZING CROWD!!
AR, AK and PM will be happy. Shows just how big LUFC are.
Great to see Luke getting a good send off after he was subbed.
