.... is fkn shite and we looked awful defensively against the lowest scorers in the Championship.
Fk knows what Wober is like as when he finally did come on, he came on in fkn MIDFIELD!!
Ayling now cannot deefend or attack....
I had high hopes for Rasmussen but he hasn't done anything defensively or attacking.....
Koch has played far better than ever before for us but still has a mistake in him....
I really rated Llorente when he first joined and thought he was just taking a bit of time settling but he seems to be getting WORSE!!
League 1 Liam has a mistake in him EVERY game now. A clean sheet v Newcastle means nothing because we were lucky they missed clear cut chances....
I really can't make out Strujik as he has one great game followed by an awful one.... there doesn't seem to be any middle ground with him.
Firpo is one of the worst defenders I've ever seen.... he's not a footballer and is playing 4 divisional standards too high....
At the moment I'd play Drameh, Koch, Wober and Strujik as our back 4 as we KNOW we won't change fkn formation....
We need to buy a PROVEN striker as we have to score at least 3 goals to win a fkn game....
(Love you Ayling and Coops though for what you've done for our club)
Hjelde gone to Rovram on loan til the end of the season and expected to play left CB for them....
Great move for him and us to see how he fares playing regularly in the Championship ....
He's still young and a good prospect....
Agree Dan
Drameh, Koch, Wober and Strujik are my best back 4.
Drameh has the pace to cover in behind the CBs and look decent v Cardiff. I would give him a run off games now.
The back 4 suggested, ie. Drameh, Koch, Wober and Struijk seems like the best we can do atm. Wober may be a very important player for us, and him and Tyler as defending midfielders could be really good. Drameh really deserves his chance, in particular when our other RBs are out of form.
To be honest, I see no actual clear tactical way we press. Yes, we go in threes but there is no clear set trigger of when that happens meaning not every one is set or positioned correctly. Questions also need to be ask why the press does not include correct spacing between our front 3, midfield and defence.
It is interesting that Jesse Marsh press at RB Salzburg was always implement by a trigger only when the otherside crossed halfway. Maybe once or twice a half when least expect did RB Salzburg do the high up the field press.
Who is it that calls or even organises the defense and who does the midfield. Our back 4 are never straight lined or in that defnsive bank of 4 your see at other clubs. Our 2 DCM are more often then not so far up the pitch leaving a hole in between them and defence the size of a 18 yards box when do the half high press. As it is not triggered correctly the DCM are scrambling to push up while the defence only reacts after that. Even more holes then appear.
Last thing is that our players seem to think the press required then to jump into the other team instread of jockey pressing them into a dead end channel. That jumping in is also the cause which ensures their own team mates do not have enough to to position themselves correctly.
Location, Spacing, timing and triggers are all kep to the press and at the moment we are getting zero of them correct hence our defense looks like a under 4's football match.
Your opening 3 words TC
says it all
sadly
i just know if i was an opposition manager especially one down at the bottom of the PL id be double checking when im playing leeds, our backline (or lack of) is pityful and only for young meslier i think we would be 5-6 points worse off and definitely heading back to the championship
Do we have any
Dogshit defence and a pisspoor midfield with a not bad forward line would be my summary of the current situation.
Villa are no great shakes though so we could get something there.
Gnonto is our great hope and Rodrigo's goals, forget about the defence its futile worrying about it.
Jeez, just looking back at my post and even my present 4 of Drameh, Koch, Wober and Strujik fills me with zero confidence....
A massive overhaul is needed and Ayling, Llorente, Coops and Firpo need to move on.... this could be theoretically our next back 4!!
FFS!!
