Well here we are again at the start of the new season feeling like this should be the 1st game back in the Prem.... it's our own fault after a crap last couple of months when we simply didn't play anything near the standards set earlier.
Fkn knows how this is going to turn out now as I'm adding to it as I go along but admin need to approve it.... it's going to be back to front and make as much sense as Lord Foggybums weather forecasts.
Portsmouth is famous for :
Shipbuilding, and there were as many as 20000 prostitutes living there in the late 18th century.... it was the first town to have a VD clinic.
Pompey Lil was the best known prostitute in town and famously had no teeth and a false eye. She only turned down one bloke in her 'career' as just couldn't face staring at the sweaty buffoon..... Lord Breezynipples wasn't too chuffed with this....
The Portsmouth ball valve is the most common type of ball valve used in toilet cistern....
Famous people from Portsmouth include:
Roger Black.... Best known for his rivalry with Sebastian Coe in the 800 and 1500m Olympics
All 5 of The Chuckle Brothers....
Amanda Holden.... I've been told there's an unbelievable sex video of her online but wouldn't dream of watching that smut😜
Joe Jackson.... Is she really going out with him + Stepping out were big memories of records for me in the 80s
3 legged pilot Douglas Bader....
The legend of the Pink Panther films, Inspector Clouseau played by Peter Sellers was born in Portsmouth.... his brother Scott actually played for us in the 80s and was pure quality but a little lightweight
Rudyard Kipling.... he made exceedingly good cakes
Charles Dickens.... think he wrote some books or a theatre play
I'm going for a positive 3-0 victory with a Joseph hat trick.... Elland Road will be bathed in sunshine in a sea of white and the new quality yellow away kit.
See you all for the next MDT v WBA....
It's never wise to read too much into the first game. We've points in the bag and we didn't lose. Move on.
Ball movement was crisp at time by us but then we let our self down with either a ill advised under hit pass to a who facing our own goal with a man on him or we go all the way back to Meslier who waits for us to reset and in-turn invites the high press or a terrible pass that courses pressure on our CB.
The midfield space is being taken up by Rutter or Pireo. They are not cm and should be further up the pitch allowing either Gruev or Ampadu to advance unit this chances we will complain about needing a ACM.
Gruev free kick early was something. Just cms away from a worldy.
Thought both James and Gnonto started to narrow. It correct to end up narrow but must start wide and then go narrow.
Positive is that we created chances. We did not pick up a injury. We did not lose and finally we did the leedsy thing and gave our fans heart issues
Not the greatest of starts to the road to the Premiership!. Last year when we took off Jimmy and Willy, we replaced with equal pace bringing on James and Anthony. Today when both went off, the threat from the wings disappeared as the wings were being patrolled by players who are not natural wingers, hence more inside and straight into the hands of Pompey.
Of the 3 goals conceded, yes Meslier was at fault for the first, the 2nd was one of those that hits the net or the corner flag and the 3rd I say was a very dubious penalty.
Aaronson should have scored the winner, however the position he was in should have been taken up by the striker and maybe the outcome would have been different. I'm not going to blame Aaronson too much, he got us back into the match and must have been very nervous going onto the pitch with all that has happened previously.
Based upon past performances, Rodon had a shocker. I sincerely hope that he is not one of those defenders who plays out of their skin on loan, then turns out to be a complete donkey when a contract is signed!. ( We seem to have a long list of those!) I don't think that this will be the case but it remains to be seen.
On the positive side, there were occasions of great interplay and probably enough chances to win the game at a canter. Joseph looks the part as a proper number 9, so unless he gets injured or tires, he should remain on the field until the end.
DF was criticised last season for making subs pretty late on in the game, today he made wholesale changes on block, which seemed to have the opposite affect of being a positive move, maybe he will look at this going forward.
On we go to the Midlands next week!
Nevermind the Aaronson goal.
Poor second half.
Facts & figures pretty much as last season.
Score from about 1 in 5 (at best) and we still conceed goals out of nothing.
I mean conceding 3 goals at home against Portsmouth? WTF
Defence looking solid in pre-season?
I don't know what I was on about Firpo not knowing how to defend, think Farke has just signed his upgrade at RB. Can we perhaps just use Byram, please...
Creativity or rather lack of in midfield obvious.
The stand out issues we had have not been adressed, and facts are we've lost 2 maybe 3 of better players.
Way off from being a promotion outfit and by some stretch.
Best to not to get our hopes up, unless the 49RS bring in 2-3 real quality players.
Lots of issues to sort out, mainly pompy scored 3 goals from 5 shots & 32% possession.
Stupid penalty to give away by Bogle who had a good game otherwise.
The first goal we conceded was poor from Meslier & it totally changed the game.
At least we didn't lose
OK I'm feckin angry.
Poor passing, sloppy attitude, bad decision making, lack of urgency and a bent ref.
Going to be a long season
This is disappointing
Ffs
Get in Willy
We need to sharpen up here, but I still think we'll turn this round.
Expect Pompey to tire.
In the mean time hire a set piece coach NOW
This has not gone according to script.
Those in the "HMS we'll piss this league" camp, better think again!
This is "only" Pompey, and yes we've hit the bar several times but it's about taking your chances and no matter how good we look going forward, the soft underbelly is still there.
Ah well, we can still win this one but warning signs a plenty.
Ffs 2-1 ,Meslier pooe for 1st goal
1-1. Meslier same old … We need better goal keepers
Great start 1-0 10 mins,could have been 4-0,hit the bar 3 times
Good luck TC. Lead us to the Premier league old chap.
I have reported you to admin for bullying me lol. Twice in one post, it's getting out of hand, it's relentless. 😄
2-0 leeds
Summerville and gray.

Yeah that's what I think will be our starting line up.... a GOOD squad wanting promotion should have a QUALITY player for EVERY position.
Darlow
Byram Ampadu Wober ANOTHER
ANOTHER Rothwell?
ANOTHER Aaronson /Rothwell ANOTHER
Bamford /Piroe/Geldhart
This is without anyone else being sold though!!
This 2nd team is quality for the squad and I'd say Darlow, Byram, Wober, Rothwell, Aaronson, Piroe are QUALITY back up and can step in seemlessly.... Rothwell needs to be somehow shoe horned into the starting X1
Another LB, winger and holding midfielder and I'd be really happy.... Rowe, Lubicic and the LB from Milan, who I don't know much about but we're heavily linked, will do me.
Just to put a negative spin on this, we need them in ASAP as we need to be straight up to speed!
So it looks like:
Meslier
Bogle Rodon Pascal Firpo
Ampadu Gruev
James Rutter Gnonto
Joseph
Subs: Darlow, Byram, Wober, Debayo, Rothwell, Crew.Geldhart, Aaronsen, Bamford, Piroe
That's all of our players bar Cairns - We really need 3/4 first team additions
Snoddy are you going and did you get your own seat I saw that some south stand season ticket holders were having to move
Well done TC. I expect the lads to make a statement from the get go and give Pompey an absolute battering. If we are not 3-0 up by halftime I will be disappointed!. In the unlikely event that Bambi is picked ahead of Joseph, I reserve the right to amend the score line downwards!!
Good Luck TC..............................................MOT
