Listen up this is a big game Leeds have beeb negligent in getting a win lately and giving the chasing pack hope hope we get the guys back injury free from the international break
On the plus side, we didn't lose so its another point on the scoreboard, albeit not what was expected, or maybe it was? I doubt whether any other championship side has the same amount of players travelling halfway around the world, playing what to me are fking pointless matches and then travelling back again and expected to put in another shift at the weekend.
I didn't see the match yesterday and only caught up with the lowlights on LUTV this morning, but to me, a mentally switched on Tanaka, would never have let the player get around him that ultimately resulted in the equaliser, however it is what it is.
Blunts still have to play Bumley so something has to give, unless they somehow contrive to take a point each! Fat Frank also still has to play Bumley, but given that he has no love for our club at all, i don't expect any favours there.
My only hope is that when we travel to Plymouth for the last game of the season, is that they need points to survive as it will bring them out, if they are already doomed, it will be a far more difficult game
You can over dissect this performance, yes we haven't been playing well recently, but there's plenty of reasons for optimism. Not least the fact that Gnonto looks like he's htiting a real vein of form and will hopefully start in the number ten role going forward. When he's good, he's unstoppable. Then there's our key players - the form of our talisman Dan James has never dropped. Ampadu was rusty yesterday but he's just been rushed back from injury - which was the right decision as he's pivotal to how we perform and we will benefit greater from him back in the team. Firpo is another who is just so important but wasn't in the original starting XI. PIroe is alwawys enigmatic, that's the type of player he is although Bamford could have a role to play in the last few games of the season. Meslier may have had yet another mishap but wiithout his earlier saves we would have lost. So, now is not the time to panic or the boo the team or the manager. Everything is still to play for and we 've still the best goal difference in the championship. Believe.
I support the view we can still do this - I believe we're the best side in this division - by some distance - on our day.
The problem here is not investment, tactics, effort or team selection - it's individual errors at a peak time of the season. Nobody can legislate for this, it's scary what it could do to damage our season if it doesn't stop.
That’s where the manager earns his money - instilling calm, drilling the players into not making individual mistakes and picking the best available team which to my mind includes Gnonto - 100% he can make a difference in the final seven games. We have the easier run in, and we are still scoring goals in the last ten minutes of matches. Cool heads win titles.
Well, we did look like winning it after Willie scored...for all of 8 minutes!!As already said, lack of fight for the 50/50 balls, lack of desire and belief even. We were under the cosh from their press for large stretches of the game and the team on the field didn't have an answer. Think Farke is feeling it too but seems tactically frozen in those moments. As for individual performances, its all been said in this thread and previous. Simply put, we have maybe 4-5 players who would just about make it in the prem, the rest sadly not and some even in this league.
No wonder the 49's are hedging their bets with Rangers, they'll be playing in the champions league next year! and for LUFC history does indeed seem to be repeating itself.
Feel for the fans who go week in week out..they deserve better!
Mind you we've only won ONE of the last 5 and 6pts out of the last 15 is not good enough....
We have an easier run in than our rivals but play better against the top teams....it seems every club see us as their cup final and we can't play perform in that situation every week
It is a concentration thing or it has to be with Meslier. How to save a penalty that is right in the corner and drop a ball that comes to your hands with no pressure? Then follow that up with basic goalkeeper position error. It real Jeckle & hide sh1t.
Over all it was a game that seemed to mimic our past 5. Something just not quite right but enough that a win should have happened.
Our current form is terrible where is it going wrong? Where is the hunger and desire to win the ball. Swansea had it and pressed us and got their reward. Other so called lowly opposition teams that we have yet to play will be following suit and we need to get back to winning and quickly.
Six games ago we were clear top of table by 2points. Our poijnts tally from the last six games is 9 same as WBA. Whilst other teams have picked up points we have dropped them. On this form we wouldn't make the playoffs, Burnley and Sheff Utd would fill the automatic slots whilst Boro, Coventry, Bristol City and Sunderland would fill the playoff places; in that order
Just as well we got the points on the board for the playoffs before this downturn in form!
Just read and listened to Farke's presser, he's 100% convinced we're going to the Premiership (however didn't mention which year).
Excuses were made because we had 14 players away on international duty and we only had the one training session.
He's not wrong, but other teams up there (this and last season) strengthened/enlarged their squad. We chose not to, again! Don't tell me there aren't weaknesses in this side/squad.
Keeper, playmaker (before today Aaronson didn't score or create a goal for ages), other than Piroe we've got nobody! Looking at Joseph, he now looks like a bodybuilder trying to run, either that or he doesn't want to be here. Thank god, the wait is nearly over → Bamford is close to nearing full fitness, just a few more weeks... Don't hold your breath.
Farke didn't want to point the finger at Meslier at all for the mistake'(s), which is fair enough, but at the same time, he goes on to blame Tanaka for conceding the corner.
Mind you, the vIbes coming out from the team are still, very positive.
Really?
Automatic promotion 100% sure?
To me it feels like a max 10% chance, and that's because both Sheffield and Burnley are weaker than Leicester and Ipswich were. And the former 2 have to play each other.
Meslier made a great pen save and another good one but then followed that up by a very big gaffe and I think every keeper would be disappointed in failing to stop their second goal. Not for the first time he has proven to be an erratic, prone to mistakes goalkeeper.
As per usual with Leeds one can sense these kind of results and performances coming. All this BS about playing 8 cup-finals, a) the're not cup-finals, it just put pressure on ourselves and we just need to continue like we've done most of this season b) we suck at playing finals.
Team and defence didn't look solid or strong at all, from the midfielders only James and Rothwell turned up. Why on earth would you start with Ampadu who had been out for so long.
Once again and like Enoch says, i do fear it will be playoffs again (but perhaps without a trip to Wemberly).
After last season faillure I half expected the board to come out and say ok, we made a mistake by not strengthening when we could.
Guess this time round they won't admit that trying to go up on the cheap could once more backfire.
Haha Smurf and you just can't help yourself and had to get snippets in for a mini MDT.... can't blame you in the least after your fantastic run and keep em coming 👍⚽
Quality MDT Mouseman and good luck for a prolonged run....
We surely have too much for them and will yet again be a case of needing a creative spark to break down 10 behind the ball. We thought we'd found that with Gnonto but it's all gone very quiet with his injury news.... I'd play Ramazani in the role, if Gnonto is unavailable, but sure we'll go back to Aaronson.
I'm going for a positive 2-0 win with Piroe notching a brace against his old club....

We've only lost once in the last 23(?) games!

Glass not even half full tonight.
A lot of upset fans booed at the end of the game
Well that was a lucky escape

Absolute sh1te.
Team of bottlers. Meslier needs dropping.
Playoff disappointment again.
Ah well, there's always next season.
NOT
The sound of silence.
Who doesnt love our Willy.
The Keeper is having a blinder from the sounds of it. Saved a penalty and a big goal chance for Swansea.
Utterly outmanaged again.
What's the point in Brenden Aaronson
Oh....😆
Their mascot is Cyril the Swan and he was voted Best Mascot by readers of the BBC's Match of the Day magazine.
4-1 to Leeds, goals from James, Solomon, Struijk and Piroe.
Good luck Mouseman. We need a good last 8 games from you.
I'm not going to the game so no WF as I CBA.
I think we'll win, 3-0. I'm gutted that Gnonto is injured, looks like the lad that is good at running will start again.
Quality MDT Mouseman and good luck for a prolonged run....

Nice work sir.
Let's get these meaningless internationals out of the way and get on with these 8 cup finals.
Leeds to get the first of 8 under their belt (but without Gnonto)
Leeds 2 - 0 Swansea
And we have a one off shirt for this game
