Well chaps what do we think?. It almost seems like we have just signed a new player!. I have given him some unmerciful stick over the last few months but over the recent games, he has cut out the fancy I can beat 12 players rubbish, got his head down and has played really well to the point were I cannot see Bielsa dropping him unless he's injured.
Maybe given the opportunity to have a decent run in the team has given him the much needed confidence and only now are we seeing the real potential, either that or he is seriously putting himself in the shop window for a good move.
I'm presuming that Costa will replace Harrison against Man City so it will be interesting to see what his mindset is, although I suspect that he already knows the exit door has started to open.
and on the bench today
do you think they only pick the players who can sing the anthem
Not yet mouseman, maybe he will get some against the italians
Nope but with Bale Ramsey and that big boy up top it is not surprising
At least he gets to train with world class players but not have to go through muscle injuring games so will be back in preseason rested and with more experience.
has he had any game time ?
Did you see MB celebrate his goal? If you did then clearly you would know MB rates him and loves him. If that is the the case then it is good enough for me.
MB has made mid championship players into proven Prem players and internationals - Cooper, Phillips etc.
He will get the best out of Tyler
Roberts has never shown he can step up. I can still remember 2 very good games he had in the Championship v WBA and Hull and if you can remember those that's not good enough....
He had 2 average games in a row this year where all he did was the bare minimum and looked better than he had been before.... which wasn't hard! !
I would have sold him to Newcastle and got circa 10m for him as he is holding up players like Geldhart, Greenwood and Shackleton and hopefully one of another attacking midfielder like Rodrigo De Paul or 2/3 other names being bandied about....
I fully trust in Bielsa and he must see something in training that is clearly lacking on the pitch and hope he goes on to completely prove me wrong.... good luck to Tyler 👍⚽
I'm glad to see him sign. He's definitely got talent and a bit of class, I appreciate there is plenty of room for improvement. But like many in Biesla's team, he continues to improve year on year. I'm confident he has the right attitude, and once he starts imposing himself on the opposition, he should become a handy player. It would have been a shame to have lost him to another club.
i reckon he will out on loan now we have tied him to a contract extension
The manager obviously sees more in him than I do. I really hope he becomes a great player.
For me he really needs to step up more than just one level. He seems to be easily knocked off the ball. Not ideal given his position in the team
Just signed a new 3 year deal. Obviously rated by MB so I hope next year he breaks out and becomes a vital member of the first team. Boy has talent and if MB can work wonders with players like KP, "league one" Liam, Dallas and Ayling then Tyler has a great chance
Over the last 5-6 games Roberts certainly upped his game.
He's young and obviously MB's rates him.
I still feel he needs to add more to his game, certainly if he's to stake his claim for a permanent starting spot.
At times he does need a lot of touches of the ball and often dwells on it.
To me, the left-back position (Alioski's) and Tyler's spot are the most easy to find improvements/better quality for.
I think it will be interesting to see if Rob Page selects Tyler in the Euro games, im not doubting MB's reading of a player but an alternative view / verdict from "outside" the leeds united camp would be useful.
Hand on heart i really think TR has improved especially since christmas and was impacting the games that we played. Has he more improvement in him? MB thinks so otherwise i dont see why he selects him week in week out, we must remember tho he is still a young lad just after stepping up from the Championship and all players even established pros coming from other top leagues in Europe need time to adjust to the pace, intensity, physicality of the PL.
If Marcelo is sticking by Tyler i think the fans should stick by Tyler also.
Jezz its no wonder im 2 stone over weight with all this bloody humble pie im eating...
I really hope Roberts kicks on, but I don’t share the confidence of Dan and Bri. I thought he was lacking in the Championship when others were upping their game. I know he has had injuries but so have others.
He can see a good pass but he just seems too lightweight for me. Can he improve to the level we need him at? The manager obviously trusts him so in that alone we hope he can.
Can we afford to wait though? For me we need players at a higher level if we are to move on.
You are right Dan, will not be 23 until January.
MB believes in him which is OK by me, after all he turned Cooper, Ayling, Phillips, Dallas, Alioski, Klitch and others into major Prem players when before he started many would have gladly got rid.
Roberts perhaps the next?
Roberts is 22 i think not 23.
In his time at the club he has not yet seen a full preseason. He has had a number of soft tissue injuries and is only now starting to slowly get match fit. Like many i believe he was trying to hard to score that first goal at this level, now thats done i see he kicking on.
Yup but if Jayden Sancho is worth £80+ million perhaps scousers need to increase their bid to nearer £70 million. After all they are part of the "big six" and their fans would not be happy if they signed players for only £32 million.
Anyway, why would Rafa want to go there knowing he is second choice behind Mo Salad? May only get 10 games as a starter next season. Only has to look at Shaqiri or Origi to see what is in store for him.
Better off at ER and playing in front of real fans
in the worst case tying him to a longer deal secures a £10-15M fee for him down the road anyway.
In the meantime the clickbait news sites are reporting the bin dippers have offered £32M for Raphinha today
Roberts has said his agent has spoken with LUFC and talks have been positive, he loves Leeds, the city and fans and is happy.
I hope he signs a new 4 year deal. The potential is there, he knows the MB way of playing and I am convinced there is a real player waiting to come out in the next year or so as he learns from players like Rodrigo, Rafa et al.
Roberts is getting his first proper run in the team - now he has stepped back from trying too hard in brief cameos and is getting to fit in properly he looks better for it. I'm very much in the "give him more game time" camp for the rest of the season.
Costa is different - he's had a proper run and he doesn't fit: he's also 27 whereas Tyler is 23?
I agree and Tyler has vastly improved in the past 4-5 weeks compared to what we were looking at in Sept/Oct.
I too threw stick at Roberts (because he deserved it) but now i have to give credit where credit is due, he has made an impact in the last 3 games in particular and has gotten the better of his opponent each time. Something MB wants and strives for each player to win their own 1 on 1.
Unfortunately Costa hasnt improved maybe he never will but for now if MB gives TR the jersey for the next game then thats good enough for me. Jury is out for TR but verdict on Costa is out, the guy hasnt shown enough on the pitch on gameday that he can play and win his own battle in any PL ive seen this year (seen them all bar 2)
