So here we are! 3 games to go and all to play for.
We simply must get something from this game.
Chelsea have a FA Cup Final to look forward to a few days after this game. Does TT rest a few players or go all out for the win?
They cannot win the Title and should have enough of a points cushion to guarantee a place in the CL next season.
However, even if they rest their best 11, their second 11 will still be a team full of internationals.
The ER crowd have to get behind the guys wearing the famous white shirt. Inspire and be LOUD.
Hopefully, JM has a plan. He has shown v Arsenal he is tactically aware. 2-0 down after 10 minutes, down to 10 men a few minutes later and a home crowd enjoying their day.
I have to admit, when Luke got sent off, My Boy and I went to my allotment to do some weeding and fix the shed. We could not bear to watch anymore as we "knew" we were in for a 7+-0 drubbing.
A couple of hours and a few beers later we get home and were "pleasantly" surprised we only lost 2-1. Just a bit deflated when we learned the Everton result. Still that is life. Once a White, Always a White living the Ups and Downs.
If I were JM I would go for:
Meslier
James Llorente Pascal Firpo
KP Koch Bate
Rafa, Harrison
Joffy
A nervous evening beckons
We'll definitely need a complete squad overhaul, no matter the division we're in.
If we somehow manage to stay up, (big question mark), beside the money aspect, remaining in the topflight would obviously make things a lot easier.
The likes of Philips, Meslier & Bamford would probably stick around and they could/would be the platform to build (rebuild) the side on.
Relegation would leave us with very little of a team nucleus/core left.
Besides Rapha, Philips, Meslier & Bamford, I can't see Lorrente, Koch, FIrpo or Rodrigo staying either (not that I would object to any of them leaving on a permanent or loan deal).Think they would be very surprised by Championship football, let alone be up for it.
So I'm not only worried that if we go down, we would have what it takes to even challenge for promotion. Can only hope the 49rs would want us back up asap and invest some money in players.
Daniel, you make a lot of sense regarding tactics. But we've all got a list of players we don't like or don't want to see in a Leeds shirt again.
I'm afraid we won't have many left.
For me you can certainly add Firpo & Roberts to your list.
But the likes of Forshaw (if he can recover from his latest injury) and Bill would still have a role to play (most certainly in the Championship).
Klich isn't a bad player either, but he shouldn't play every game and when he does he should be playing behind 2 strikers. Thus making late runs into the box and score or at least a few. This season he had to come from far too deep, he just hasn't got the pace or stamina to do that. He's not a holding or sitting midfielder.
What I would like to see is, us finally getting in some stronger/taller players.
We've got so many lightweight/small players (wingers) in our squad.
In truth we shouldn't be surprised that we've conceded that many goals, compared to last season we simply have defended or played as a unit.
Leaving space in behind, both on the wings and in the center.
Nearly every team has cut us open with ease, on top of that we also make the same mistakes over and over again.
How many players do we have that can actually defend, put their body in and put in a decent tackle? Very few.
We will be the new palace bounce around the two leagues till we find our level mid table team
Well volounteered sir! Very best of luck, for all of us!!
Good Luck Mac! Fingers and toes crossed!
I will do the next MDT if no one else fancies it, I did manage a 2 game winning run earlier in the season and that would just about do the trick wouldn’t it??
Even I am losing hope! This is not the LUFC team I enjoyed for 3 seasons previously.
For the forseeable future, I think Leeds will be one of the yo yo clubs, to good for the Championship (although on current form that may be a stretch!) and not good enough to remain in the Premiership.
Even if we managed somehow to remain in the Premiership next season, nothing is really going to change as we will require a major overhaul and huge investment in the squad to make us fit for purpose.
My understanding is that the 49r's takeover doesn't kick in until 2024 ( which I presume is predicated by us still being in the Premiership?) so the board is not going to have the financial clout to really upgrade anything which leaves us constantly applying plasters and bandages to fix over the issues and maybe having to sell our prize assets to generate some income to spend.
Having been in the doldrums for so many years in the lower leagues, is heart wrenching to think it will come to end after such a short period of time, but we need to reset and get the team functioning again. That will be almost impossible in the Premiership, so maybe a drop down to the Championship will give us the breathing space to build something that is more sustainable for the future.
In my heart I haven't totally given up on our Premiership status for next season, but my head says that it is mission impossible.
If the ref had punished the Chelski players for the fowls they did early on things would have changed by the time things got heated the first player’s carded were leeds
at least I get more games for my $ in the championship
ps who wants to be a hero
He should have been sacked before Christmas, and our little Italian should have sold up to the 49ers also. Marsch would have had cash to bring a new midfielder and No. 9.
But Radrizanni gambled the clubs PL position, in favour of his investment, by hanging on.
The Championship beckons, or perhaps it already has us by the throat!
I wish MB was still in charge. Huge mistake sacking him.
Don’t forget Roberts - never want to see him in a Leeds shirt again
First move is to make sure that each player understands their fu8ken role and what space is theirs to cover. Then teach them to shadow a player with out touching them and keeping themselves between ball a goal. Next ask the fu8ken striker to be a god damn striker and not a midfielder. Every time a player who under not pressure completes a needless back pass to the keeper they should made to pay 50% of their weekly wage to a charity.
Lastly i never want to see the following players in a Leeds united shirt again. James, Ayling, Klich, Llorente, Rodrigo & Forshaw.
We are playing for our survival and we play defensive as a line up. Why not just attack and play 2 front men at the very least a basic 4-4-2.
Let’s prepare for the championship. Get ready to sell Koch, Llorente, Rodrigo and James for as much as someone is willing to pay for them; accept that Phillips and Raphinha and possibly Bamford and Meslier will want to go (understandably, somehow); and let Klich and Ayling be squad players from now on. Build a new team around Cooper, Forshaw and Dallas - and let Cresswell, Drameh, Greenwood, Gelhardt, Summerville, Bogusz, McCalmont, Gray, McKinstry etc. have their chances. It’s about time. First of all, though - please don’t let Leeds become the madhouse it was pre-Bielsa. MOT
Can anyone find anybody who is better than 4/10 so far? The passing is dreadful, and this not even a Championship performance.
Sarcasm, of course, I hope Marsch stays with us next season, no matter what division we’re in.
And now we face the last 2 desperate games without
Bamford
Dallas
Ayling
James
Harrison?
Does Marsch have a plan B? - plan A, ie. going down by a goal or two and then getting a man thrown out, hasn’t worked so far….
This is a new low. I want to hate the ref and accuse him of cheating us, but if he'd given a yellow to James VAR would have overturned it and made it red anyway.
Dan James - the latest to do the walk of shame and cut our own throats. There's just nothing left to hold onto here. 😌
This season, let alone this game, needs a miracle now.
Well this is going well.
Not bad:
Meslier
Cooper Koch Struijk Llorente
Phillips Bate
Raphinha Harrison Rodrigo
James
….would have preferred Gelhardt instead of James, but otherwise a good choice. Who will handle Lukako?
