I was stood right in line with the meslier incident. It did take an odd bounce after the deflection but it had the pace of a snail, terrible goal keeping but he is probably the best we have so I would stick with him. As a fan base we should support him, he needs us to get behind him.
The walk back to the car was depressing, surrounded by dumb Sunderland fans singing Leeds are falling apart again, we totally outplayed them. If they go up I'll give up WF forecasting, they were rubbish.
However if we go up I will also give up WF forecasting. Injuries and suspensions will hit hard, unlucky for Farke, it will likely be his downfall unfortunately.
It has taken me 2 days to be able to discuss this match after the disappointment.
And a special mention for Meslier for the save of the season for their goal and was very unlucky it bounced back out for the striker to tap in....many other keepers wouldn't have reacted that quick or even got across the goal.
Still a fkn shitte schoolboy mistake at the end....
Brendan Aaronson cost 3 points with a bad miss v Porstmouth
Rodon gave up a pen which cost us 3 points v Norwich
Struijk missed a pen which could have cost us 3 points
Outfield players don't have the impact goalkeepers do, and Meslier has gained us 3 points in other games so I'm not going to go at him for this - I will if it happens again though. As others have posted, he is fragile on set pieces and clearly concentration and control are his weakness. He needs to step up now.
No betting scandal here and was just shitte / one of those massive mistakes that happens in football sometimes that makes it the game we love....if it was truly match fixing then he wouldn't have left it to the 90th +7 mins! He was claiming every cross before that!!
Meslier shouldn't have been seen laughing with their manager on the final whistle but was purely embarrassed and not thinking straight.
Nothing to do with the 'head injury' either as he was just wasting time....
Perhaps if we didn't sit back on a one goal lead and play to our attacking strengths we'd have scored another and killed the game...
I actually understand that mistakes happen and such but it was one of the strangest we have seen.
On him chatting and laughing with their manager. This is to be expected as that was his boyhood coach and the man who gave him his career.
Personal think Meslier biggest problem is that he has had coaches that deem him undoubtedly the number 1 and as such no matter what he always first choice which has allowed him to not work as hard as he could.
For obvious reasons I’m not a big fan of either of the Schmeichels, but their work ethic is something that Meslier could study - some iconic quotes from P.S. include:
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
Success is not about being the best, it's about always getting better.
Don't dwell on mistakes, learn from them and move on.
Ok, before we all press the nuclear button, let's take a step back. I'm guessing giving the squad injuries we would have gladly taken point. Yes, it's disappointing that we let 2 points slip but it's not a total disaster!. When a defender or attacker makes a mistake it's not as costly as a goalkeeper. I may be in the minority, but I have a high regard for young Meslier and am pretty sure that the team will rally around him. That being said, seeing Firpo storm off into the tunnel it may take few bottles of Spanish Rioja to calm him down. In short breathe!!!!!!!
Meslier has fantastic reactions, he’s such a great shot-stopper. But his kicking and distribution, his punching, and his catching has always been dubious, if not directly awful.
What a waste. A manhood test, and so well passed, by our young players. And then this... Meslier has not been good enough for a long time; far too inconsistent. We need a better keeper, if Meslier can’t do better than this.
And Farke will keep defending Meslier, fair enough - comes with the job description - but he should stop calling Meslier the best keeper in the Championship.
Anyway - between these two sides I'd fancy Leeds other things being equal, but after a road trip on Tuesday, having to go to theirs and with missing players I think a draw would be decent.
The thread title was apt

OK - morning after.
Doesn't look any better than the night before.
However, I reflect that:
Brendan Aaronson cost 3 points with a bad miss v Porstmouth
Rodon gave up a pen which cost us 3 points v Norwich
Struijk missed a pen which could have cost us 3 points

I want a official betting investigation into Meslier. That goal was highly abnormal. The reply show him taking his hands away.
Got I hope I wrong but that was incredible...
WTF was that

That looks bent to me!
Meslier’s money on a draw obs!😡😡
Well that was something else, this surely does only happen to one club.
Effed it up when there was no way back for them.
2 vital points thrown away.
To start with, why on eart would you foul some in his own half and with the bloke going nowhere. Daft or silly doesn't cover it.
Then Meslier, well I can't come up with enough words to describe that, going from comical, sad, terrible, what a disaster.
The lads played well and Aaronson could and perhaps should have made sure before we hit the selfdestruct button. Again this was so Leeds.
How do you describe that.
A team performance against the odds about to bring home the bacon.
Then that.
I don't know if we should protect the guy for being such a cretin, or just blow him apart for being a cretin.
What a waste. A manhood test, and so well passed, by our young players. And then this... Meslier has not been good enough for a long time; far too inconsistent. We need a better keeper, if Meslier can’t do better than this.
What was he doing?
Any links anyone please?
I would take the draw now and move on.
Good stuff again boss.
Martin O'Neill is a Sunderland fan??? Why??

Rothwell HAS TO START whether Gruev is fit or not....
Gonna be tough with another away game but Blunderland also played Tuesday night.
I'm going for a positive 2-0 victory with Joseph notching a brace because of how fit he is and beating up the defence....
