You may have seen today the financial results last season - over £60M loss. The SKY money at the end of this season and the injection from SF49ers cover it off, but it does leave us with less than we think to spend in the summer - unless there's another slice of ownership cash coming in.
These numbers include about £45M of money spent on players and that means there's another £45M or so spent more recently still to account for. I'm square, but I'll look forward to seeing the detail.....
Our turnover this season, despite there being no crowds, is likely to exceed £150miilion and probably be closer to £180 million.
The £100 million spent last summer is not a figure to worry about as it is likely to be spread over 4 years so only £25 million per year in reality.
The £62 million loss has been cover by 49ers £23 million investment and a loan of £43 million taken out which I expect would be repaid over a 5/10 year period.
As long as we stay in the Prem and TV keeps pumping money into the game, we are OK.
I am sure MB will stay for next season, I am sure he knows what he needs to improve the team and I am sure AR will give him the funds to bring in the right players.
When Orta is given big money, he tends to get it right - Llorente, Koch, Rafa and Rodrigo - when he has to go for a punt, his hit rate is not so good (list too long to bother with here) but there are some exceptions - Struijk, Meslier, Klich, Bamford, Harrison (when he eventually signs for £12million) and probably we will be be able to add Poveda, Summerville, Drameh, Geldhart, Greenwood, Davis to that list too next year.
Lets forget about Bouy, De Bock, Grot, Ekuban et Al.
I would VO will bring in 3 big names for big money this summer and probably 2 big names on loans with options to buy. (We pay big loan fees though).
We will be losing Kiko, Berardi, Hernandez and Alioski this summer for that is 4 spaces in our current first-team squad freed up. (Douglas is out on loan so is not in our current squad) So even if we bring in 5 new players, it still means MB has the small squad he likes working with.
Only one premiership club made a profit last year.
Managing the club's finances is the most important priority for Radz and he shouldn't bend to the fans wishes to squander it all on transfer fees. Though I trust Orta to spend what we have wisely.
Net Loss of nearly £62M.
Promotion has cost £20M in bonusses and transfer add ons, with even more to come this season for staying up.
Players wages have gone up to an average of £ 33.000 (weekly).
This season with Raph, Rodrigo, Koch & Llorente that will go up again.
Have to say, can now see and understand why we didn't spend on players in January.
Don't think we'll spend another £100M over the summer.
Money will be tight, but this will be so for all teams (listening to Guardiola about signing a striker).
Good thing we've secured the money from the 49rs & some major sponsorship deals (19 new sponsors), the sky tv-money and hopefully the return of our faithfull lot at ER will surely cover most of the losses.
It’s quite scary to see losses like that Soopa, especially with our history!
Hope we can recover the losses when this Covid sh1te is over?!
