In place of Mouseman's MDT - here's a short tribute:
Brentford play at a bus stop in London. They are doing OK
Leeds have had a good start - the window is shut so let's get on with it with who we have.
Expect an even game, 23 degrees C and no rain.
Brentford 1-1 Leeds
just rewatched the highlights VAR is a fkn joke.
for our penalty claim(stonewall penalty imo) if the VAR look at it and don't give a penalty why didn't we get a free kick for their defender trying to rip Jimmy's shirt off outside the box.
their penalty was soft,Luis played the ball,if it was the other way around we wouldn't have got the penalty.
I hope Firpo and coops are match fit soon so we can play Strujic or Coops with Koch.Llorent & Koch both had mares,Llorente needs to be benched imo.
if we can sort our defense out we have the makings of a good team.Sinisterra,Adam's, Roca & Aaronson all look like good signings.Summerville is improving with every appearance.Ayling looked decent when he came on,I would start him v Notts Florist.
..
I GUARANTEE Coops will be the first name on the team sheet against Forest....
I think for the next game we need our two strongest CB’s side by side. For me that would be Koch and Struijk, however this will only happen if Firpo is fit. Otherwise I would be bringing Cooper in and playing Struijk at LB again.
Don’t know why Rasmus wasn’t in the team, but if fit he had to play too. Failing that I would play Ayling from the start and hope to get as much out of him as possible before he needs replacing.
We also need a focal point up front and that has to be Bamford. Gelhardt just doesn’t work up there on his own. As talented as he is, he isn’t a lone striker.
Tactically we need to stop opening ourselves up to the counter attack. In the last two matches we have come up against teams that are happy to let us have the ball and over commit, before Hitting us on the break.
Llorente had a nightmare, so did the ref!
Watched the game on a stream and we got nothing from the guy in black.
A draw would have been a fair result
I just watched the highlights on MOTD and the referee’‘s performance was fookin’ disgraceful!😡
The c u next Tuesday should be banned!
How the fook we get decisions like his when we have VAR, is an absolute joke!!🥊💥
Eventually I couldn't hide any longer and viewed the highlights on MTD this morning. Horrible to watch a performance as bad as the result. Brentford showed us the value of proper CF in Toney; something we are lacking. Bamford flatters to deceive. Ok he had a couple of good seasons but he is not the real deal and his form and fitness is too inconsistent. Llorente 2 games two costly errors. He must give our opponents great confidence to have a go at him!
The coach is not helping the team with his constant railing of the officials. Not saying that refs may be less inclined to give decisions our way because of it but who knows apparently they are only human! The likes of Klopp and Pep may get a way with it but then again there is a bias towards those teams at the top of the money tree.
Finally VAR.
Former top-flight manager Tony Pulis said on BBC Radio 5 Live: "It's not VAR - let me get this correct. VAR just records the TV footage, it's the people who are running VAR.
Hopefully that's the last time we see Llorente in the team. I've said on numerous occasions that he is an accident waiting to happen and he never fails to deliver. Even Koch, who is a decent player, is getting affected by the clown. Fully expect Coops to be back in the side, until he breaks down again. Loaning out Cresswell sure looks like a smart move!!.
The midfield is ok, although a bit narrow at times, also someone needs to loosen the lead weights around Roca's ankles!. It is pretty obvious that Joffy isn't in the mould of a classic No 9 striker, but can be a pest in the area. Bambi does get into the correct positions, but again like Coops, he is sure to break down again at some point, which will just leave us with Rodney as an out and out striker.
Ayling being back is a major plus and he already got the team going forward. I agree with the analysis that Struijk has been very good at left back, although he probably hates it.
5-2 completely flatters Brentford and that smug manager of their's who really winds me up.
And I also agree that JM needs to get his own house in order. You can get pi**ed off by the decisions, but you need to show the players that you are in control of yourself.
Defending was a complete horror show today, gifted them 2 or 3.
Llorente how stupid can one be.
The attacking play was decent to good, just a pity that none of those deployed in attack (nr. 9 position) aren't either fit enough or lacking sharpness/confidence.
Good to see Ayling, had a nice return within 30 sec of coming on. Feel he did well.
JM needs to calm down a bit, it's starting to affect the players.
He lost his head and for a time so did the players.
Agree that the pull on Summerville followed up with a hefty push in the back warranted a pen.
Ref was poor to us and good/lenient to them.
5-2 sounds like they wiped the floor with us, they didn't.
A lot of things went their but we did contribute to our own downfall.
I want a explanation on why during the first half Llorente tried to spoon with Toney. It was stupid behavior. In fact if i was managing he would have been substituted at half time.
Jesse Marsh need to see that playing 3 people within 15 feet of each other in attack is pure ludicrous. Joffey needs to stay on the last man shoulder forcing the CB to back off and open space for the midfield players.
Someone needs to explain why VAR did not check the Summerville thing.
Some say Ayling good when he came on but I thought Dremah was also pretty good. He put in a couple of great crosses and was free and open for the switch of play all the time. Think Ayling can be used as a winger with Dremah or Kristensen behind him in.
Anyone notice Bamfords miss from 1 foot out just before Roca's goal or his shot from a 1 on 1 situation that almost hit the coner flag. We need to play 2 upfront as Joffey, Bamford look better players then.
Summerville was great when he came on. Tricky and attacked the defender which opens up space.
Every player who went to the referee today to act like spoiled 5 year olds need to be fined as that was not the professional look our club want or need. It was embarrassing.
Not impressed at all today.
This has been a disaster.
FT - Brentford 5 - 2 Leeds
No lack of ability up front, we're creating and scoring.
Joffy is NOT A No9 - end of story.
No lack of possession, but often very high up the pitch. Midfield holds it's own, but we get turned over on the counter so easily.
Drameh struggled, Ayling straight away a lot better when he came on at right back
Struijk done nothing wrong at left back
The centre backs have been ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL. If you play high you need CB's that have some pace and awareness.
Today Koch has been caught out at least twice - once with a bad foul for Toney's free kick and then for Mbuemo's goal
Llorente has been done twice with mistakes that have led to goals like the Everton one - two left feet.... not to mention where Meslier bailed him out or he messed up passes
Today is a watershed. Either JM changes the approach to nursemaid his CB's - or he changes the CB's.
MOUSEMAN!!!!! Help us out here 😫
Llorente is an absolute liability.
If it wasn't for Meslier......
He's saved another 1-2-1
Brentford 5 - 2 Leeds (Wissa 90+1)
Oh boy. Llorente lets the ball dribble under his feet. He's shot, absolutely done here.
Easy pickings for Brentford
8 mins of added time - been plenty going on.
Final sub - Greenwood on (again who the chuff has gone off???? HATE radio leeds)
It's Roca off (84 mins)
Brentford on the break - score again!!!!
VAR for offside ...... ???
no
Brentford 4 - 2 Leeds (Mbuemo 80)
Koch and Llorente have been caught with their pants down YET AGAIN!!!!!!
Brentford 3 - 2 Leeds (Roca 79)
From the resultant corner.... ROCA!!!!!
Ayling has made a world of difference
Bamford has missed an absolute sitter, actually knocked it back off the line as it's going in. (75 mins).
straight away a head clash - Ayling and Mee - both down.
A few minutes to sort this out, both back up - Ayling with blood from his nose.
Another sub
Ayling on for Drameh (70 mins)
