So I wanted to start a topic to discuss what we the fans think we need next for our squad and or club in general. I will start this off.
Players: Think we need to find a few players who are playing week in week out that are 19 to 21 years old who we can buy but leave playing at their clubs for the next 24 months. We need to rid ourselves of some players and replace them with a few new ones. I like to see the completion of the squad overhaul that has rid us of all previous squad members who played in the Championship with us.
Club training facilities: like to see a new complete training facility being built. We once had the best of the very best in training facilities and technology but have seen nothing change bar Biesla small changes for our youth and squads. The new training ground has to have a micro game stadium for our preseason games and our youth games, updated gym and medical facilities and a small hotel for visiting youth teams to stay at (we charge them of course).
Update at least 1 section of the stadium. Choice area would be the somewhere we can add more seats but also cooperate boxes and better media/tv broadcasting options.
Buy a small club in either Denmark or Scotland which we use as a farm system to develop our better younger player who are between 19 and 22. Think where Gyabi, Cresswell, Bates, Hjelde, Joseph, Gelthardt, McGurk, Klaesson all see 90 minutes of senior football against men with regularity. It also means we can start to scout south America and Africa correctly and have a place where it is slightly easier to get them visas to play.
Hold regular under 18's tournaments inviting youth clubs from around the world to participate and get it sponsored by our kit sponsors. We boardcaste these back to the youth teams country to help build our club profile among them for future new fans.
That is my start. What are others thoughts and comments.
It appears that confirmation has come through via Companies House - 49ers now control the stadium 🍾
I'm in the stadium camp too. I'm happy enough with the current squad. Bricks and mortar is what we need.
The replacement of the older squad players will take care of itself. That process is well underway and will gather even more momentum if we get promotion.
But giving that our current squad is rather young, it would still need a couple of older/experienced heads. Never mind more quality.
Getting ownership of a foreign club or two would be a good thing. A couple of foreign clubs, (even from the second league/division) one in Scotland/Ireland and for example one in Belgium would be clever moves. Getting those clubs wouldn't cost much more than a decent Championship player. As you mention Daniel it would come with all kinds of perks.
As Soopa says the stadium has got to be the priority. It will come with a hefty price (suppose the 49RS & partners have the cash and or could partner up with a big name company).
The added capacity would then bring much needed sustainable revenue and would also put our name on the map as a "big club". It would show certainly our ambition on and off the pitch.
My priority is, and always has been, the stadium.
We can't get the sustainable revenue and we can't show the best players we're a big club with 36,000 fans tops every week, playing and watching in an early 20th century old facility.
The top PL clubs have expanded or moved massively since the start of the Premier League era - Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham etc all in new stadia
Newcastle, Manure, Liverpool already in much bigger homes but expanded
Chelsea, Aston Villa bigger now but still looking to expand
New kids on the block? Brentford, Brighton - also in new homes....
Neverton will overtake us in 2 seasons.
Even our relegated PL rivals (Foxes, Saints) are in new gaffes....
I don't think we need to move, but we do need to expand. Plans I have seen for a West stand to match the East and a double tier on the Kop end would bring us to 50,000 with a corner redevelopment taking it to 55,000. I have faith the new owners have this as a priority too.
EDIT: as of today it appears Radrizzani still owns the majority of the stadium 😣
This is an even more pressing reason to make ER the priority now.
Nice write up Dan
Deffo more seats in Stadium If we had another 10000 we would still fill it in the Championship No brainer for me
Also think buying a club would be smart too maybe two one at home and one continental to accommodate foreign signings
