Just been reading the Sky Sports report on a new contract for him. Didn't realise that he was actually at Leicester undergoing a medical with the clubs having agreed a fee at £20million!!!.
This explains the muted celebrations for his goal against Accrington.
Think the board have made a major f**k up on this. Bad enough letting him go in the first instance but to offload for a paltry £20 million beggars belief!
maybe we decided to waste Leicester's time on deadline day, they are a relegation rival, maybe it was massive sh1thousery from us so they wouldn't have time to sign anyone else.
usually I would put it down to us not knowing what we wanted to do but Llorente signing a new deal before being loaned out with an option to buy shows the board is getting more savvy..
Jesse Marsch has just talked about it - it's true Smurf.
I understand from twitter ( so who knows)
that he was on the way to do the medical when leeds agreed to match the deal he was happy and came back
Hopefully Jack will be back having his 2 great games followed by the anonymous 5....i still think he'd be the perfect left wing back but we'll never play this system.
You have to take reports from LeedsNewsNow like a Lord Blusteryfanny weather forecast as the opposite will be correct....
I’m not sure how much credence I give this story. I have no doubt Leicester made a bid, and that Leeds fearful of the players value plummeting would certainly have considered it. But if I was Harrison, would I want to go to Leicester, a team who are also in the relegation mix? Not with the likes of Newcastle also hovering. It’s hardly a step up. I don’t buy the proposition that the player was at Leicester pen in hand and that wr suddenly pulled it. Unless there’s a quote form the club or player, I have no confidence in any of the sports journalists when it comes to tittle tattle.
I suspect there's a bit more to it.
On the one hand...
Harrison hadn't signed a new deal so with less than 18 months on his current deal the club needed to bring the situation to a head.
Maybe the whole incident has crystallised minds on whether he wants to go or not, what he's actually worth and how much an equal club want to pay him.
I don't think the club ever wanted him to go or that he wanted to leave, but he's drifting toward the exit door for free.
On the other hand we may have believed until the last minute Zaniolo was coming in to replace him - if that's the case Harrison will just leave in the summer instead.
