The guy has played 15 matches for us and in those games he has attempted 396 passes with 369 of them being successful. He has attempted 56 one on one defensive duels with him winning 31 of them. He is a extremdy player.
His stats are great with ball retention etc.... it means the opposition can't score whilst we have the ball!!
The challenge that made me think he's a 'proper' Leeds player was when he was running back towards our own goal, with Plymouth on the break, and slid in and won the ball back on the halfway line.... 👏
However, I feel we need Gruev as the ONLY holding midfielder IF we played 3 CBs at the back. It would release Roberts and, especially, Firpo from as much defensive duties as they are better attacking. A back 3 of Rodon, Ampadu and Strujik means we won't concede a single goal til the end of the season.... Ampadu can also slot 20yds forward next to Gruev when we are attacking.
I don't suppose many will agree with me cause we're flying at the moment and don't need to change the formation.... however, this can be used as a Plan B to switch during the game.
Our 2 FBs will be creating havoc pushed up alongside Summerville and Gnonto / James....
I just simply think we have the best attacking players in the league and play to our strengths by giving them the ball asap....

Rodon Ampadu Strujik
Roberts Gruev Firpo

Many thanks in anticipation of you all agreeing with me 👍👏🖕🥊🤣🙈
A back 3 was something that has suited us all season and in fact it would have suited us last season as well.
You are right that Gruev needs to play as the single CDCM ( or rigista- as the Italian like to call it).
The number of times he has already seen the play before it happens and reacts to cover what other have not seen is extremely important to us.
Think sometimes Kamara crowds his space a little to much and a more attacking midfielder would better suited to playing next to Gruev. Infact ArchieG playing with him is better suited. Ampadu and Kamara can do it but need to be pushed a little more forward.
My ideal back 3 would be LCB Struijk, CB Rodon, RCB Cresswell.
My formation and line up would be.
RIF = right inside forward or inverted wingers
LIF = left inside forward or inverted winger
CDCM = creative defensive central midfielder or deep laying play maker.
1st couple of games thought he was a waste of space but definitely now he is a must have in this team

Farke out.... me, Hoddle and Keegan in
Think the Iliad was more Homer's thing 😉
Seriously, I think this guy will be poached - and I mean big money. Give it 12 months more of this level of performance.
Players with an engine like him who can pass so accurately, read the game and make clean, effective disrupting tackles are like rocking horse 💩.
Rice and Phillips were worth?
Turning into a real little gem!.
