I have said for many months that his hard work is commendable but he's a 5th wheel on our car... he's a deeper lying "off the shoulder" second striker but we use a 4-2-3-1 system that doesn't need one.

I think he needs a move to a club that will give him that role, which will be good for him because he may yet shine, sadly he doesn't fit us.

I was thinking the same thing 72.He has the attributes to be a decent winger imo.I would loan him to a L1 club that would play him on the wing or as a striker,his position of 2nd striker is becoming obsolete in today's game . the lad has talent and heart but needs to reinvent himself ..

Summerville had a very good game, created a lot for others but he should at least have scored 1 (the one on one with the keeper, he delayed his shot and was tackled).

With Salford sitting very deep and often getting 10 men behind the ball we found it difficult to break them down.

The camped outside their box and in tried in so doing to limit space for us to run into.

Still we had a lot of chances to score and with a bit more clinical finishing or a real striker (fox in the box) we would have been several goals up before they scored.

At times it all became hurried, evenpaced and a bit predictable.

Nearly everything had to be played on the floor (no or little aerial danger).

Darlow is more experienced but Klaesson has more potential. I never saw Darlow as anything other than cover.

Agree about it being only a league cup game (league obviously far more important). But correct me if I'm wrong, the previous round it was important enough for a player not play in order not to get cup-tied.

For most fans now the cup games are only important if & when we win them.

As for Rutter, to me he had a poor game.

And that's without considering his fairly lofty pricetag and the quality of the opponents.

Against Ipswich he had a good game and scored a very good goal.

Yesterday saw the return of his clumsiness and poor decision making.

Yes he got past people, but usually followed that up by eihter underhitting the pass or chose the wrong option in trying to find a teammate. A prime example (counterattack late in the game) when for once there was a lot space to run into and he had 2/3 teammates available & bombing forward, instead of passing, he first cut inside to beat his man and then tried to play to most difficult ball forward.

It ended with him playing the ball straight to a Salford player.

So I'm not even talking about the missed chances or that miserable penalty miss (I've seen 8 year olds hit it harder), nor the lack of his abillity to get himself to be in the right position.

To me Darlow, during the game didn't have a great deal to do.

Made a decent block at the end of the game and he certainly didn't cover himself in any glory for the pens. Then again I wouldn't label him a bad/poor keeper just yet.

Never been convinced by Klaesson (bar a good 10/15 mins at Wolves).

If Meslier stays, I suppose he'll be on his way soon enough, it wouldn't be fair to him to keep him as third choice.

Agree Gelhardt and Hjelde both had rather poor games.

I agree with most of that except Rutter who imho had a good game. His dribbling was excellent and he put himself about and got involved. It was only the finish that let him down. He looks a real asset to me. For me, the price tag is completely irrelevant. That's just what it cost for Leeds to buy out his previous contract and he'll not be on the big wages that the senior players are on.

FEiW I never felt Darlow was a good signing. But if we need an emergency backfill, I guess he might do.

Yes the approach play was fine, but as you say neither Joffy or Rutter hardly got into a position to hurt them. The very few times they got into the danger area they both scuffed their shot & Rutter missed that header.

Rumoured there's a £25m + bid in for Rutter?? Snap their hand off!

I'd take anything we can get for him. There's someone somewhere who can't believe their luck in the money we paid them!

Rutter was one of the better performances. Gelhardt was the weak link up front tonight.

Can't watch it; 1-0 down at halftime, but creating many big scoring opportunities, it seems. So 2-1 still a good guess. Come on Leeds!
