Well fresh from the numerous cardiac arrests from last night, we enter into the 2nd instalment of the "Tortuous Trilogy" against Quarter Pound of Rubbish this Friday, another welcome opportunity for our away supporters to sing the praises of Sky Sports!.🤣

It's been a while since I visited Loftus Road (back in the 70's to be exact) but still have painful memories of several defeats, not helped by a moron with a big drum in the home supporters stand constantly banging it (the drum that is!!).

Formed in 1886, it took them until 1982 to reach the 1st Division with moderate success, however in the 70'/80's they did have some star quality players in the team, few were:

On the managerial front, well they went from the sublime to the ridiculous:

Unfortunately for us, QPR are still in a relegation tussle which based upon our past performances against these types of teams, generally spells a difficult game. That being said, the victory against Boro should instil some much needed confidence in the players.

Without wishing to sound like a broken record, we cannot afford to have someone wearing the shirt and only effective for 10% of the game, DF needs to have strong words with Rutter and get his a*se in gear.

Assuming Rutter gets going, cannot see a change to the side that played last night, which should be enough to see us through.

Start and end of the season killed us.... we drew 2 and lost 1 of our first 3 games.

What is it with leaving signing players til right up to the opening day of the season and getting them right up to the last half hour of the transfer window deadline!?

They have no chance to integrate into the team!

Drawing with Rovram and only winning one of our last 5 games didn't help!

All true, but we gave ourselves a huge chance with an absolute barnstorming run at the start of 2024.

The end result is 90 points with the second youngest team in the league - so glass half full on that score at least.

You're correct Soopa and I was only posting on here a few weeks ago when we'd just started our end of season bad run that we'd been on a great run and would've taken a defeat and draw....

I didn't think we'd have had a FIVE game crap run though as we have a very good squad /bench.... just think we should have used it more though, or at least earlier in games, to rotate.

I also believe we should have used our subs bench more and given those who came on more minutes.

Fairly often we've only thrown on players either late in games and or when the result was nearly set in stone.

Usually it had very little effect having 4 or 5 strikers/wingers on at the same time.

Other players on the bench have been stuck there forever without getting any game time at all, which makes it even more difficult to use them.

Thinking about the likes of Cresswell, both reserve goallies, Anthony, Joffy and even Joseph. Can we really expect them, if called upon to perform on top of their game?

Thing also is that in truth we've not got a player like Hernandez to unlock a defence with one magical pass or move.

On top of that we've got so many like for like players, but once we're faced with 10 men behind the ball, in terms of personel we often seem to have nothing to really unsettle the opponent. Was thinking that in such a situation a big/strong forward with aerial abilty would add something different.

No wonder Farke is saying that he's looking for something else when it comes to both defending & even more attacking set plays (corners, free-kicks).

He says we're missing PS in that sence, he's not wrong, but I'm convinced his best header of the ball (defending & attacking) is stuck on the bench.

It's up to us to go into the playoffs meaning business and sore from our failure over the last 5 games.

The morning after the night before and I find myself in a more rational state of mind and assessing the season as a whole.

Basically with all the upheaval at the start of the season, we gave the rest of the teams at least a months start and really didn't get up and going until later, so at that time, we would have gladly accepted the play-offs. Unfortunately for us fans, the team after Christmas went on an unbelievable run which elevated our expectations to Premiership dreams.

In my mind, we are probably going to be at the best outcome we could have hoped for at the start of the season, the play-offs. Myself, I don't want us promoted on the back of another's teams misfortunes, I want us to have earned the right.

However rationality doesn't trump emotional!

Wasn't it closer to £170? Think the money we since got for Adams & Sinestera hasn't been taking into account.

From those out on loan this season, we will probably sell Harrison, Wober, Llorente, Roca. Maybe new loans for Aaronson & Kristensen?

That should be worth around £40M + whatever in wages.

Jimmy, Rutter, Gnonto &, Meslier should bring in at least £50M between them.

Add to that their wages and all those who are out of contract.

So I think & hope we should be OK for FFP.

Offcourse we would also need to add numbers to our squad (loans?)

Perhaps the lads will surprise us all in the playoffs? → I'm clutching at straws😏

I've had a quick peek at companies house (because I'm square like that).

We have liabilities of: £176M current liabilities and £144M of liabilities over 1 year.

Of that total £190M is transfer creditors.

Our operating loss last year (June 30th 2023) was over £106M - mitigated by sales of players of £73M up to June 30th 2023, so we record a loss of £33M for FFP purposes.

As for what we can expect coming in for 23/24 - Adams and Sinisterra (£40M roughly)

Llorente 4.5M to Roma I believe is already a done deal, Roca £NIL if we don't go up likewise Wober - both have loan entitlement if we're not in the Prem.

Harrison we might get £15M, nobody will buy Aaronson or Kristensen.

We still need over £100M to balance the books - bear in mind we also make an operating loss outside of transfers and in the EFL the allowance is a lot lower than the EPL over 3 years.

The salary costs alone for 2023 were £146M

Another area of money wasted was on the payouts that Biesla, Marsch, Amos, Garcia, and BigSam got. Heard it was close to the 25m mark.

Oh and their keeper Begervic demonstrated today what a professional goalkeepers perfect positioning is. His save with his body to save the nice little touch shot from Joseph was class.

On our goalkeeper Meslier.

Do others think that because Meslier is deemed un-droppable (Darlow & Klaesson have stated this in interviews) that he, Meslier has become mentally complacent which has led to his decline (or lack of any improvement)?

I would drop Messlier for the Soton game,see what Darlow or Klassen can do.Messlier makes mistakes when the pressure is on.

I'm not saying it's only him to blame for our recent slump,the whole team has under performed.

Totally different subject but it strikes me as strange that we had our player of the year and awards with 4 or 5 games left in the season when we were fighting for promotion,this seems like an unnecessary distraction & not the time of the season to be patting ourselves on the back,it should have been held when the season is over imo

It not that Meslier is a fraud but rather any time you give a young man a verbal message that he is garrentee first team football NO MATTER WHAT then you will see them mentally checking out.

There are very few elite athletes that have the mental strength to keep striving to be better once they reach their first goal especially when you are earning big $ (15 years worth of average every day people wages in 1 season) and you are young. Remember Meslier has never had to fight for his spot ever in his career.

Make him fight for his spot and watch him improve.

It is the SAME fkn formation every fkn game.... 4-2-3-fkn-1.... funny enough, other managers watch our games beforehand and we just give them our tictacs on a plate!

Get Cresswell in at the back in a 3. When we're playing out from the back move Ampadu 20yds further on to come out with the ball or receive it....

Firpo can't fkn defend but CAN attack. Play to our strengths and combine him with Summerville and we'd rip teams apart in every attack....

We surely CAN'T just train 3/4 days a week with that rigid formation!?

Just have a fkn Plan B.... or even C or D.

We have been inconsistent since the International break picking up ony 8 points from a poss. 21. We fail to break down organised defenses, take too many passes give the ball away fannying about in own half and currently not good enough for the PL. I for one do not want to suffer like I did last season with us wallowing in or near the relegation zone all season, as Burnley and Sheff United are doing this season.

Even now we hope Hull and Coventry will do the job for us and we beat Southampton next Saturday and get the automatic slot!

Really peed off with April.

Dear all, please accept my profound apologies for giving us all any real hope after the Boro result and penning a MDT against QPR that a) resulted in our most goals conceded, b) the most abject performance that I've witnessed for a very long time from every player. Needless to say that I tender my resignation.

I don't even know where to begin or end. I thought it would be a tough, but manageable game, but did not expect the carnage that unfolded.

Another season in the Championship is almost certainly on the cards, but more importantly, it will be another season where DF has to start from scratch as our main playmakers will be off to pastures new so we end up back at square one!.

Disappointment doesn't even come close.
