Just watched highlights of the game and we had loads of chances.... and a very good penalty shout.
Piroe was hardly seen in the highlights apart being from the edge of the TV screen nearer the fkn halfway line!
This is a guy who's scored 40 goals in 2 seasons for a side who don't make as many chances as us!
Fk playing him as a deep no10 and play him oop fkn top on the last man and he'd have scored and won the game for us today!! 🤬
Scoring goals is the hardest part of the game so put your best fkn finisher in that position!
You change your system to suit your most important players and not the other way round and play square pegs in round holes.... piissed off with the management after watching this.
Farke has done well for us but this was a very poor decision and not rocket science....
I'm sure Piroe would have played right oop top for Swansea?
We're proven NOT to score goals on a regular basis and Piroe has proved he CAN score goals on a regular basis.... it's proven that the further forward you play, the more goals you'll get and that's why you're a STRIKER!
If he'd played behind another striker as a deep lying no10, creating chances and assists AND scoring 20 goals a season, then he'd be playing in the Prem or for Barcelona if he had everything....
But in a different team & probably with different tactics.
What I meant was that Swansea played a different kind of football.
Probably less dominant and more on the counter.
Giving Piroe more time & space to play in.
To be clear I'm not agreeing with Farke to play him that deep.
I want him in the box and not further back.
It's not like he's gonna feed off Rutter's scraps (those are virtually non existent), but if anything I do feel he could do well playing next to a fit PB.
Rutter's not ever going to be prolific (to put it mildly).
Rutter is a poor man's Thierry Henry.... he is not a goal poacher... he is the kind of forward who creates his own goals, but is not very good at it... Piroe is the goal poacher we need playing up front..
Personally I would drop Rutter to bench if James and Poveda are fit after international break... I'd play Poveda,James,Gnonto and Summerville behind Piroe.... This maybe debatable, but I think Poveda and James are our 2 most creative players in the squad...Gnonto and Summerville are very talented players and have potential to be superstars but they are not the finished article imo... A front 5 of James,Poveda,Gnonto,Summerville and Piroe will thrive in championship and get us loads of goals 👍👍
I didn't watch the game because I was working but sounds like we were struggling to break them down,it seems strange to me that Farke waited til last 10 mins to make subs and didn't throw Poveda or Joseph on ..
We're like kittens padding around a ball of wool - enjoying the process but no killer instinct yet. It may be a factor of being so young - Piroe is the elder statesman up front at 24 and today was his home debut.
I have to hope that it will click - players will be called out and fined for crabbing once they cross the halfway line. Also fined for getting within 18 yards and not looking for a final pass or shot.
If the other mob want to put 10 men behind the ball then either run at them directly or pass forwards - NEVER pass sideways or backwards
Fans are a funny bunch. Our club gets sold, we sell, loan and let go about 16 first squad players, we have player revolts and strikes, we went half a summer with no management team or technical director, we bring in 9 newbies - 4 of them just in the last mid week. And the fans expect perfection from the manager and team from get go. And despite all that we are stil financially stable and odds of 7/4 to get promoted. Gotta love the fans.
Don't really believe that many fans have asked for perfection from the manager (think that he, deservedly has earned a decent amount of goodwill) or team.
To get this team/squad going will obviously take time.
The football, in general, has been better than the results (that's not new). But being a 'big' club there is bound to be a degree of expectation from the fans and rightly so.
That was a complete deja vu game. Seen it all before....many times under multiple managers. Lots of posession a few hopefull long range shots from outside the box but with the ball at our feet and in the box literally come to a dead end with no end product and no idea what to do next and with our only natural striker Piroe no where to be seen. Needs more than a little work to get this machine firing on all cylinders but looking at the bench and knowing nothing about our new unavailable signings will it be possible?
No idea what to make of that other than it was painful to watch. Play was so predictable. Rutter has obviously been training with Bambi on how not to score goals. For the Wendies, it was a piece of p*ss, defend in mass as there was absolutely no danger of a cross coming in. Our set pieces were shocking.
Maybe the 2 week break will give Farke time to adjust things, we simply cannot go on with possession and pretty football and be fking shite in the last third.
On a more positive note, thought Ampadu, Shacks, Jimmy and Little Willy had good games.
What is the point of having a goal scoring striker playing so deep as a midfielder while our right back is hugging the touchline on the last defenders shoulder resulting in the CM having to cover the right back spot.
If the RB is going to do that then at least Fu8king put a cross as stop cutting onto your NON PREFERRED FOOT.
We played so narrow that it was basically how Jesse Marsh's Salzburg played.
Actually Shackleton starts in a decent position then gets forward while Ayling start way to high. Shackleton has to cut in to use his preferred foot but Ayling does it for no reason. Shackleton cuts in but has Gnonto outside him while there is no one outside Ayling.
Again balance is gone.
Just have Rutter and Perio playing the last man's shoulders left and right thus allowing space for Summerville to work in.
You're observations are not wrong Daniel. Ayling indeed starts higher up the pitch compared to say someone like Shackleton. In order to gain some ground/yards Ayling needs to be already higher up the pitch or already must be on the run (as he lacks the pace of Shacks).
Normally he does put in a cross, today he didn't do that enough.
He did it once in the second half and put the ball in Kop. → poor
But the reason he cut back so often was simply because often there was noboby to take aim at in the box.
Him being this high and wide means there is nobody to his right and he's obliged to cut inside. Makes everything predictable.
Today he was not called upon a lot in terms of defending, but with him being so high up the pitch it leaves so much space in his back.
Better teams than Wednesday will exploit that.
We got lucky that Spence had the pace to prevent a near certain goal, had that been Bill...
Farke said he asked Piroe to come from deeper and Rutter to take up the nr.9 position. Once again Rutter proved he's not a nr. 9, hopefully Farke gets this soon.
Like you say we were so dominating that our strikers should be occupying/troubling their CB's and not drop deep that often.
We made it easy for Sheffield.
Need to find solutions soon because if teams like Salford & Sheffield W. can do this to us, every other team will do the same.
Farke might need to tweak something because the whole team are incapable of breaking a stubborn defence down. EVER!!
We have enough possession and enough good territory but the final pass or the final shot are not there - we seem to be just too slow in the build up, we allow opposition teams to regroup in 2 banks of 4.
Exactly Soopa, a lot of huff & puff but very little zip. No sharpness or killer instinct around. Like you & Daniel have said the pace at which we move the ball is far too slow. 2 banks of 4 players in front of us and we don't know how to counter that, whenever Jimmy or Gnonto get on the ball they doubled up on them. Another problem we've got is that we can't mix it up (go a bit more direct), also nothing sticks once we go down the middle. Piroe looked lost out there (hardly noticed him), Rutter worked hard & did have a few nice touches, but when it really matters it isn't gonna happen is it.
He needs 10 minutes as a 9 towards then of the game. Joseph that is.
Only 1 of the 2 new midfielder make the bench this week... Interesting, wonder if was give the extra days to move to England given we have international break shortly.
Hopefully Spence gets 30 minutes in the second half today.
Farke will be good for us overall.... I think our owners should have a word with him celebrating a measly draw in the local park though
Last week at Ipswich when there was a bit of a lull one of our fans just shouted out " We've signed a fu***** striker" got a good laugh did that.
I bet this same fan this week was as bemused as the rest of us as to why we didn't play the recognised goalscorer upfront.
Plus he left the subs far too late, Ayling should have come off at half time.
I like Farke and think he has been brilliant so far but I don't think yesterday was his best day.
Plus why did he have a massive coat on. Maybe the heat got to his head.
Unbelievable booooring game

In Farke we hope!

We end every team's sh1t run! Diabolical!😡
Making hard work of this!
Good luck Mouseman, 3-1 to The Mighty Whites. Piroe x 2 and Jimmy with the goals. Cummmmonnnn Leeds💥🥊💛💙
Two changes from Ipswich:
Byran replaced by Shacks, Summerville in for Sinister
Meslier
Ayling Rodon Struijk Shacks
Ampadu Gray
Summerville Rutter Gnonto
Piroe
Forgot we got a game today with all this transfer talk crap....
Another good one Steve!
Looking forward to good solid win.
Perhaps today (for once) we'll score first.😉
3-0 Leeds (Piroe, Summerville, Piroe)
Joseph & Poveda back in training ..
Quality MDT Mouseman and good luck for a prolonged run....
Easy prediction and definitely 2-1 to us with a Piroe brace....
Starting line up has to be.
G - Meslier
RB - Spence
RCB - Rondon
LCB - Struijk
LB - Shackleton
RDCM - Grey
LCDM - Ampadu
RAM - Gnonto
CAM - Rutter
LCM - Summerville
F - Piroe
Sinisterra is he still with us be game day? If so he starts.
The 2 new CM sit the bench.
No place in the game day squad for Ayling or Bamford (if happens then it is a true new beginning).
Joseph gets time off the bench as a 9.
Prefer personally for Meslier to be benched and Klasseson starting but that will not happen.
Long term see Archie Grey becoming a number 10 in the mold of Steven Gerrard-esk/Ballack-esk
Go Steve-----want to see you still doing this in december😃
LEEDS TO RUN RIOT--5-1-----Paying $8.00 to win by 4 goals
