The Mighty Whites v Wolves New 2022/23 Season MDT
Welcome to the new 2022/23 season my fellow ULUFC Mighty Leeds supporters and after narrowly seeing us through to survival in the Premier League last season, Mac is back with the first MDT of the season.
Well guys....Who knows what to expect this season? I certainly don't!
So we sold our two best players, raising £100m for our transfer kitty and brought in a load of players, all of whom look like decent signings, however, all are untried and untested in the EPL!
Will that matter?
Will they be able to perform to the same standards in the Premier League as they did in their respective previous leagues?....Which after all is one of, if not THE toughest leagues in the world??
Who knows? It's a gamble, but hopefully one that we can pull off! (Ooo errr Mrs!😲)
All look to have performed fairly decently in pre season and anyway, LUFC simply cannot afford to go out and splash the cash on big money signings like the top 5 or 6 Premier League teams can, so this is an alternative option available to us.... Better than bringing in older, jaded Premier League players with limited shelf life me thinks??? Time will tell!
I still have some concerns about being left exposed at the rear (See my previous Brighton MDT🤪) and carved open with relative ease on occasions, due to our attacking style of play, but I guess this will be something JM will be working on as we progress?
I would still like to see a top striker brought in and rumours persist that this will be the case....But will it turn out the same as in previous years, where we are linked with a BIG name all the way through the closed season, only for it to not happen?... With management quoting the usual "Well we tried to get so and so, but just couldn't make it happen"?
I would also like to see us bring in a reliable left back too, as much as Firpo is decent going forward, he has no fookin' idea how to defend!
The bookies seem to have us down for hovering just above relegation this season and scraping survival again, but I do not share their pessamism and I think we will enjoy a much better season than last and will finish around mid table, or there abouts.
So onto The Wanderers then and Wolves enjoyed a very respectable 10th place finish last season and to be fair they are not a bad 'little' side.
Now at this point, as I'm sure you will all know by my previous MDT's, I normally slag off the opposition, (sometimes rather controversially even!!😝), but with Wolves, it's not so easy, as they are a rather insignificant little outfit really....A bit 'nondescript' as it were!
Their ground only holds 32,000 and average home attendance is around 30,000.
Obviously Wolverhampton is a sh1thole, as it was voted the second worst City in UK in 2018, finishing just one percentage point above Bradford, which was voted the worst....No surprise there then?!
Some folk refer to wolves as 'The Dingles', however that is a name I prefer to reserve for Burnley, as I feel it more suitable/apropriate for them.
Other than that, there's not much to say about them really, they don't steal things like 'The Sscousers', they aren't scum like 'Manscum' or 'Chelscum' and they are not especially known for engaging in deeply incestuous relationships like the knuckle dragging 'Milscum'!
One thing I do remember, is the last time I visited Wolverhampton it was so windy....It would blow a Wolves fan off his Sister!
And so for the result....I predict a 3-1 victory for The Mighty Whites, which will see us sitting at the top of the Prem by Saturday evening! Goals from Rodrigo, who is smokin'🔥right now, Lord Bamford Who is getting back in the groove now and Aaronson with his first Premier League goal.
All the best for the coming season everyone.
Cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumoooooooooooooooooooon U Mighty fookin' Whites⚽️🏆💥
Congrats Mac excellent start to the new season
Now lets rip Southampton apart and open up a 6 point gap on manure (hopefully) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well done Mac mot
Possibly today we have seen how effective the 5 sub allowance will be. If we look at rugby, they have incorporated the substitute process by allowing players to effectively run themselves ragged for 75% of the game, in the knowledge that they have players coming on who can effectively contribute. Today we evidenced that taking off 5 key players did not cause us any issues, in fact in gave us a better platform as we were allowed to continue our high press. This kind of rotation of players will suit the likes of Klich who I don't think can start a game now, but can be vital for the last 15-20 mins, assuming of course he is prepared to accept this.
It's only game 1 and I'm probably beside myself with anticipation for the rest of the season, but who knows.......
Congrats Mac!!!
A footnote for those with short memories:
It took Leeds until October to secure a win in the PL last season or indeed to get to 3 points at all.
I'll take that today.
Southampton look like a team with issues and we have them next.
I hoped for 4 points from the first 2 games this season to settle the nerves and we're well on track.
Good result and on the balance of play, just about merited the victory. Some sharp interplay between midfield and attack and a trusted goalie between the sticks. Thought Aaronson was excellent in the first half as indeed were several others, but the 2nd half was tough going and Wolves certainly put us under the cosh for 15-20 mins and there was a great bit of skill from Netto that turned two of our players inside out. That being said, we did have our chances in the 2nd half to put it to bed, with one golden chance for Bambi, however he did create the cross for the winner and did have a chance to play Klich through on goal, but held the ball up too long. Cannot really criticise him having been out so long.
Adams seemed to fit into the midfield defensive role well, but to be honest, I wasn't overly impressed with Roca, hopefully he will come good.
Not sure how they didn't give a penalty to us for the charge by the goalkeeper on Kristiensen, but then again, we are Leeds!
We dominated the first, well impressed with Adams & even more with Aaronson.
At the start of the second half we didn't really get started.
We were under the cosh for a good 20mins.
As Klich came on and my streaming went, but according to Phil Hay, that cripple did rather well.
From what I saw we've still have a very good goalkeeper.
Even if Pascal did okish at left back, we could do with a real LFB. → get the finger out Victor!
Patrick will still need some time to get 100% matchfit.
Second half our energy levels dropped ,which is natural because we gave so much in the first half. Several players like Rodrigo, Rocca seemed to run out of steam.
Good start, but a bit worried we faded that much at the start of second half.
There were some excellent crosses into perfect areas today. Rodrigo, my man that is what you need to do when in the box. Shot and hit the target. Good goal. Dear mr Roca. If you stay a little deeper you are able to impact the game more. Little high today but nice niggle early on with their players.
BOOOOMM!!!
we are playing well but look vulnerable at the back.
some of our link up play is really slick and the new lads have settled in well.I really like the look of
I missed the first 10mins. Managed to get a stream and watch the rest. Although we weee 1-0 down we looked to be bossing the game. We are very mobile in the middle of the park now and quick to get in the oppositions face. Aaronson had been non stop buzzing around and causing problem. thought we should have had a penalty for the keeper clattering Rasmus. in fact I didn’t think it, it was a penalty all day long.
Rodrigo did well for the goal, which was won back by Aaronsin and Harrison ratting their defenders in the box.
we are full of energy and looking good. They had a couple of chance which Meslier did well to stop.
if we are able to carry on with the energy in the second half things are looking good.
not the best start. 😣
Fingers crossed for a long run of MDTs Mac. So, Wolverhampton one of the few places not associated with Douglas Bader ! MOT
great mdt Mac.
3-2 to us Paddy,Rodders & Koch
Roca & NK (Kristensen nickname according to wiki!) getting booked! ..those 2 will rack up the yellows this season! ..
Great MDT. I'm continuing the optimistic feeling and going for a 2-1 victory to the mighty whites. Hoping that Bambi gets one of the goals.
Brilliant MDT MAC i too am going with a 3-1 victory for the Super Leeds
Bit disappointing you left the almost customary weather forecast out
Leeds currently sit 10th in the table with Wolves in 20th so this is a home banker surely🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Good Luck Mac....MOT
Quality un PC start Mac to the new season and good luck for a prolonged run lasting til after the World Cup 👍⚽👏🙈
We have to beat sides like Wolves at home to not be pulled into the relegation zone but I suppose I'd take the draw as long as it's a good performance and our players gel for the first time out to bode well for the season....
However, I'm going for a positive 1-0 victory, with Llorente and Koch shoring up our defence, and Hattrick notching the first of his 20 goals this season....
Mouseman will take all season to read this MDT....
Welcome back MDT
1-1
Hurrah! The world of Leeds Utd and MDT's is about to re-awaken.
Great MDT sir!
I think we'll be OK in this first game - dominate for the most part - there is a risk of slipping up on the counter and so it could be a draw, but I fancy us to nick this by just 1 goal.
Leeds 2-1 Wolves
