A big welcome to Max Wober. Have to say, I'm unsure about this signing, he's injury prone and we already have four established CBs plus Cresswell and Hjelde. I do wonder what will become of Struijk now as Koch and Cooper are the first choice partnership, and I have to question why Llorente was offered a new deal.
But, if he has been signed to be a LB, that might well solve a perennial problem position. FIFA CM rate him as 75 with potential to reach 80 which is the bellmark of quality. He was captain of his club so will add much needed leadership. He has played for Marsh before and he was the most expensive Austrian player ever. So, despite some reservations, I wish Wober the best and am happy to get behind him.
Wober is average and I think we are still after a LB. He does come across ok and is versatile though so may have some worth
I'm OK with it on the basis he should know the way we want to play and it's not a bank breaker.
The other RB signings have been winners overall (Adams, Aarondsen and to a lesser extent Kristensen)
For me it's the confirmation Cooper drops down the pecking order and looking at Wober's CV he's an upgrade there
Am confused about this signing but it seems the board are backing JM.
A LCB that can play LB - We have 2 of those in Pascal and Leo + a LB that can play CB in Firpo.
But Max can also cover No.6 too so his versatility is a plus
Not a signing that gets the pulse racing, we'll have to wait and see how good he is at premiership level much like all our signings I suppose.
Welcome Maxi by the way
I know nothing of the guy, but if Jesse has had him previously im assuming he has qualities to bring to the dressing room.
Like you Smurf i just dont understand why if Wober is signed why has biscuit legs been given a new contract. I just dont see the logic in that personally
So what is the end goal with this signing? Is he the replacement for Cooper we then move on?
Or is the replacement for Llorente who now moves on?
Or do we now switch to playing 3 at the back?
Interesting thought here. With Mark Jackson taking a manager role eslewhere. Would we loan him Hjelde for remainder of the season thus seeing Wober filling in as the 4 CB.
Maybe Struijk get moved back into DCM with Wober plaing at
Welcome Wober and hope you shore up our leaky defence....
If he partners our German CB, will that be a case of Kochs and Wobers....
I know absolutely nothing about this guy. I don't Share your concern about Struijk though, pretty sure he just signed a new contract that runs to 2027. In my opinion he’s the best CB we have also, I would be building my defence around him. perhaps it’s more a case of coming to the end of the line for the likes of Cooper and Ayling.
Theres also the possibility of going to 3 at the back with wingbacks, which could be an option.
