When pressing. Do not press the goalkeeper ( Rutter) unless he has the ball outside of the 18 yard box so as not to leave a hole in the midfield.
Stop trying to play everything Centrally as it is over crowding things an easier to defend.
Play Pireo as a 9 on the RCB's shoulder and have Rutter do the same on the LCB thus making the LB and RB have to mark our wide players 1 on 1 also ensuring the midfield have stay and help more.
On defensive corners leave Summerville and James/Gnonto up near the halfway line as it will either offer counter attack chances or at the very least force others teams to keep 3 to 4 men back.
Use ArchieG further up the pitch as he rarely gets the ball when he bombs forward down the line.
Fkn awful overall but blunderland defended brilliantly without us really getting at them....
Anthony and Gnonto had to come on earlier and both should start Saturday.... that's not DROPPING anybody but ROTATING the team.
I'm not comparing us to Citeh in standard in any way but we have 4 EXCELLENT wingers and don't want to piiss them off.... we have squad depth so use it!!
We've still got 9 wins in the last 12 games so a great run 👍👏
We have enough people contributing to the forum to have someone NEW to do the MDT v Cov and bring us some luck!!
Still, you had a very good run Steve. Brave man needed to step up.
We had a lot of possession but we didn't create a great deal from it.
Once we had the ball, Sunderland kept 10/11 men in behind and we simply couldn't break them down. Have to admit they defended well and worked hard, but our lack of width & creativity was fairly obvious.
Going forward only Summerville really troubled them and Rutte, Piroe and even James didn't ask enough questions! More is needed.
Subs were made late again and only Gnonto was really anything like convincing.
We've now been beaten or have been held by teams sitting back, defending in numbers and mostly play some rather direct stuff.
We seem to struggle with that kind of opponent. Farke needs to figure this out.
Lots of football to be played, but 10 points behind Ipswich and 8pts or more behind Leicester makes automatic promotion a fairly distant dream.
Ref was quick to brand out yellow cards to our lads and let theirs off the hook for equally bad fouls. Not a surprise, but not why we lost.
Makems getting above themselves "WHEN Mike Dodds addressed his Sunderland players at the Academy of Light on Monday morning, there was a clear message ahead of the game against Leeds United: we belong at the top of this division and we can cope with the best the league can throw at us. We'll have to bring them down to planet earth tonight. Still 3 - 1 to the mighty whites.

Long may it continue, but your point about the run ending is well heard - away to this lot, possibly looking to impress the next boss. This will be a test of our maturity.
Quality MDT Mouseman and good luck for a prolonged run.... going unbelievably well so far 👍👏
We have to watch out for our former favourite, Jack Clarke, who seems to have found form again.... 96yr old Jim Montgomery will be hard to get past in goal as well.
I'm going for a positive 1-0 victory with Rutter notching....
Wonder what the attendance will be and how many tickets they have given us as the ground holds 50k....pity it's a midweek game.
5 think we can do better.

Well it couldn't last forever Steve.
We don't like playing against red and white stripes do we.
So many poor performances last night but I'm not going to pile on to the team, we have a good points tally considering the shambles in August.
Can't see us getting auto though, top two are doing amazingly.
We will win the play offs, definitely!!
Sorry Steve.............MOT

Oh well I called it so who's up for Saturday game?
We've not been good enough at breaking down a well organised team - kitchen sink time
Ipswich winning ffs need to win now
Eeek! we're in a contest here
Not a great half, lucky to be not losing, subs?

1973 FA cup final defeat still hurts. Open game 3 - 2 to the mighty whites. James & Summerville again.
Good luck Steve ( the wizard ).
Going to be a real test is this one. I just hope we can field an unchanged side again but it looks like Byram may be out.
Looks like it may not be raining which is a miracle at the minute. I'm looking forward to it, let's hope we can silence the crowd early doors.
2-1 us.
Good Luck Steve...................MOT
