Is it me or have the threads got really confusing in their lay out? Just doesn’t seen particularly user friendly

It seems to me KP needs a Bielsa type team to play his best. Under JM and Southgate it ain’t gonna get that. OK, he was pretty good in the Euro’s but it seems he has reverted back to just an average defensive midfielder. Seems heresy but if we get 50M + I’d be delighted.

Bielsa took a mid table Championship side and worked miracles. In his fourth season he couldn’t do it again. The players had hit their collective heads on a thick glass ceiling. Trained hard for 3 years, the squad couldn’t cope any longer without reinforcements. In steps the new guy. First game is encouraging despite the result. Just a few tweaks and we were looking more solid and attacking well. But there is a but. He kept tweaking and changing. The players have struggled to adapt. The Leicester game for me was a bit of a false dawn. We haven’t played as well since. Two managers have failed to get the team playing anything like before. MB had run them into the floor, and for me Marsch hasn’t got a system in place to suit our battered squad. We we’re going down with MB. IMO, Marsch hasn’t got the players or the ability to keep us up. We just seem reliant on others bogging it up.

Mel Morris is a slippery snake who’s wiggled down every hole looking to finance his fantasies. He got so fixated on the Premiership he tried everything and bent all the rules. Got found out, wrecked the club and walked away. Lampard also tainted Derby for ever in my eyes as he doing with Everton. The combination of the press’s blue eyed boy and Morris was a combination that made me dislike Derby intensely.

Difficult to answer with any certainty. MB’s CV isn’t exactly bursting with trophies but how many managers have that? MB is Myopic in the extreme. People say he’s a great coach and a rubbish man manager. IMO he’s a great coach at one style of football which can pay dividends in the short term but it’s not sustainable medium to long term. The reliance on a small squad is just not sustainable either at this level and MB‘s insistence on just using those first team members started costing us dear. If Gelhardt, Creswell, Summerville, Bate etc had been given as much attention as Roberts for example, I don’t think we’d been in our current predicament. As a club we had a perfect opportunity to blood some of the youngsters in the final half dozen games of last season but MB ploughed on with a tiring first team. Loved what he had done with the squad to get us promoted, some of the best football ever witnessed at ER, but as this season unfolded, I only thought it would go one way leading to the inevitable sacking. Is JM the answer? We could have done a lot worse. Getting an old dinosaur like Alladyce would have been a disaster. The style difference alone would have doomed us to certain relegation. It’s such a shame that MB couldn’t tweak things a bit, because that’s what is happening now. We we’re going down with MB at the helm. If JM keeps us up it will have obviously been a correct decision. He’ll have at least until Christmas to prove he’s the right fit.

Criminal if the club knew about him being injured for 12 months. Did Bielsa convince the board he didn’t need a replacement or did the board say he couldn’t have anyone else? Either way it was a stupid mistake not to get backup. Anyone else think even if he had been injury free, Bamford would not have the same season this time around? I reckon last season was a one off for him, all the stars seem to align. So even injury free we needed another striker. It really needs sorting early in the Summer and not a panic buy mid August.

Great point Soopa At least 6 of those players would have been in the side. The international break has come at a great time. We may get most of them back for the next game.

It’s come to something when “best of luck” is needed against the poorest side in the division. If Marsch plays the same line up (baring the injured Firpo ) my early optimism about his appointment will have dissipated.

Totally agree with you Bull. If he persists with James as a 9 and Ayling as CB what’s the point in a new manager? It just doesn’t work. Everyone can see other than our last two managers. We all know better 😂

I’d start with Joffy and Rodrigo up front. Joffy is not totally match fit so could he last 70 mins and then be replaced by Bamford?

My goodness does this team need some major work in the Summer. No investment in the midfield for four years is almost criminal in its neglect. No real attempt to better or even backup Bamford and an over reliance on a handful of worn out Championship players. If Marsch keeps this team up he deserves a medal. Bielsa’s myopic ways of just using an 18 man squad is now starting to bite. Such a shame MB didn’t put as much effort into Gelhardt and Summerville as he did with Roberts, as we would have two attacking options that would be match fit.

Yep I’d go with that too. MB would never go anywhere near that line up. I have a feeling the new guy won’t be as myopic.

First game was 1970 aged 8. Didn’t live close to Leeds so it was an expensive trip and the family didn’t have a lot of disposable income. Probably went a handful of times over the next three or four years.

Wilko Bielsa O’Leary Grayson Early spell with Christiansen I am old enough to have seen the Revie team but didn’t see them that much so I didn’t count the Don in my list. The promotion year with Wilko was intense. Missed one home game all season due to an appendix op. I think my season ticket was £70 ! The atmosphere was electric, boosted by Vinnie of course. When Strachan scored the winner against Leicester I’ve never seen ER bounce like it did then. I thought Christiansen had it early on. Fabulous football but then the wheels fell off almost overnight.

Perversely looking forward to the Leicester game when I certainly wouldn’t if MB was at the helm. We all know he would have started James up front and brought Roberts on as his game changer. Looking forward to the line up. If it’s the same then we may be in trouble once more. Don’t think he will though.

Being thick and all, it took me a while to realise what the thread was about😂 Hopefully Joe get’s a start up front and James plays instead of Harrison. Fingers crossed that zonal marking makes a difference to our chocolate fireguard defence.
